Heat request waivers on G Parker
MIAMI (TICKER) —The Miami Heat on Monday requested waivers on guard Smush Parker.
Parker played in just nine games - averaging 4.8 points - this season while dealing with legal issues.
The problems stemmed from an incident in December when a Miami woman, Yomairo McKenzie, accused Parker of twisting her arm over a dispute over a valet fee. She reportedly is seeking criminal charges against Parker, who is in his first season with the Heat.
According to a police report, Parker claimed he had paid the fee a night earlier. He said he did not have any cash available to pay.
Denied his keys until he settled his debt, Parker allegedly pushed a valet podium and grabbed McKenzie’s arm, according to the police report. Parker was not arrested or charged at the scene.
Parker signed a two-year, $4.6 million contract with the Heat in the offseason.
