Bucks’ Yi to miss rest of season

MILWAUKEE (TICKER) Milwaukee Bucks rookie center Yi Jianlian will miss the final eight games of the season with a sprained medial collateral ligament in his left knee, the team announced on Friday.

Yi suffered the injury during the Bucks’ 110-109 victory over the Washington Wizards on Wednesday. The 20-year-old Yi then underwent an MRI exam on Thursday afternoon.

After evaluation and further testing by Bucks orthopedic physician Dr. John Heinrich, it was determined that Yi will need two to three weeks for rest and rehabilitation before returning to basketball activity.

The sixth overall pick in 2007, the 6-11 Yi averaged 8.6 points and 5.2 rebounds in his first season with Milwaukee.
