Stephen Jackson’s Agent: ‘No One Trusts Don Nelson’

  • Print

Golden State’s Stephen Jackson(notes) wants to be traded and his agent came up with a new way to agitate the Warriors’ front office — attack coach Don Nelson’s character.

Mark Stevens, Jackson’s agent, told ESPN’s Chris Broussard on Sunday night following the Warriors’ loss that Nelson had done questionable things in his past, laying the groundwork to say Nelson lacked credibility to handle his client’s impending trade.

"No one trusts Don Nelson. When Nelson was in Milwaukee, Wayne Embry trusted him and brought him in, and he betrayed Embry. In Dallas, Mark Cuban took damn good care of him and his son [Donnie Nelson Jr.], and he betrayed Cuban. In Golden State, Chris Mullin hired him and trusted him and Nelson backstabbed him by reaching out to president Robert Rowell and blaming Mullin for everything that was going wrong with the Warriors.”
The Warriors have stated they will seek a trade, but the longer the season wears on, Stevens and Jackson have grown tired of waiting.

One source told Sporting News’ Sean Deveney that Golden State is in no hurry. “Part of that is that they’re not getting great offers. Part of it is they know his value is going to go up once the trade deadline comes around and some teams get desperate.”

“I just want him out of there now,” Stevens told ESPN. “It doesn’t matter where. At this stage, something has to be done. It can’t get any worse.”

    @ richard

first of all calm down dude (reported), the sonics are gone and never coming back.

"Look at the Sonics winning seasons, then compare vs. The Clippers or Golden State" This would be a much better argument if we were talking about how successful the teams were. BUT, we are not. Were talking about the sonics getting sold, and other @#$%y teams staying in their respective cities. This means that you cant look at how good or bad the teams were (even no they are all pretty awful) but u need to look at the owner, the economic situation, and the market they were in. I'm sure if you took more of a business perspective it would be more obvious to you why teams like Seattle get sold and teams like the clippers and GS stay.

why the hell Jackson sign an extension if he wants to play for championship team. Jackson planned the whole thing, no other team will pay him more than the warriors, now he's asking to be traded, jackson is piece of garbage, a cancer to a team.

"The Clippers, like GS, have had one winning season in recent years, but are back in the toilet, like GS." -false

"Enough of the BS teams in the NBA" haha, thats why they got rid of the sonics, if it wasnt for The Glove it would of happened a LOT earlier!

And teams like this, with an overall losing record over the last 15-20 years, are allowed to stay while the Seattle Sonics were jacked? At least they've had winning years, something teams like GS cannot say. Even the Kings are going back into the basement. The Clippers, like GS, have had one winning season in recent years, but are back in the toilet, like GS.

Bring a team to Seattle. Sell the Clippers to Seattle; Sterling is an embarrassment to Pro Sports. Everyone knows there is only one team in LA.

Nelson is a tool. You don't get rid of an executive like Mully who stayed, believed, and made trades to better the team. I don't blame anyone on that team wanting to get out. Trade any and all players who could be better suited to other teams: Ellis, Cap Jack, even get Maggette outta there. Turiaf, my Zag boy, send him back to the Lakers for scrubs.

Enough of the BS teams in the NBA; let's put WINNING back on the floor!!!!

The Warriors will be ok. Bring back Al Attles to coach. Trade Jacko, Monte, and anyone else who doesn't want to be there. Fire Don Nelson.

The organization is an embarassment and laughing stock of professional sports. As a long time Warriors fan it is just too much to deal with. It all starts at the top and at the top is a disfunctional incompetent owner. Being a Warriors fan is like being in abusive relationship. We think it is going to be different every year but it never is. For the love of GOD SELL THIS TEAM COHAN!!!!!!
