Artest Trying To Fit In With Lakers' offense

  • Print

The regular season starts next week, but the Lakers still don't have everything as fine-tuned as they'd like. Specifically, coach Phil Jackson is trying to figure out how to get small forward Ron Artest(notes) more involved in the offense.

"He still looks like he's standing around watching the other guys play at times, and he's not getting involved as much as I'd like him to be involved," Jackson told the Los Angeles Times. "I think that he's got to find his way in the post and do some things out there that exerts himself and puts pressure on his teammates to hit with the ball in the right spot."

Artest, who was shooting 34.5 percent through his first four preseason games, says he's still getting used to his teammates, but that when "it's time for me to be aggressive, it'll happen."
