Suns release G-F Jackson

PHOENIX (Ticker) - After not using Jim Jackson for 24 games, the Phoenix Suns have decided to part ways with the veteran swingman.

The Suns waived Jackson on Wednesday, nearly two months after the 14-year veteran last saw game action.

The 6-6, 220-pound Jackson, 35, was averaging just 3.7 points and 2.4 rebounds in 27 games - one start - for the Suns this season. He last played January 4 against Philadelphia.

“Jimmy has made great contributions to our team and has been a consummate professional,” Suns coach Mike D’Antoni said. “We wish him well.”

The Suns had acquired Jackson from the New Orleans Hornets on January 21, 2005. He averaged 6.7 points and 3.3 rebounds in 67 games - four starts - with Phoenix last season.
