J.R. Smith: Set to Return

Update: Smith has finished serving his seven game suspension to start the season and will see his first game action on Tuesday in Chicago, the Denver Post reports.

Recommendation: Head coach George Karl has stated that Smith won’t start at scoring guard right away but that he will play starters minutes. As far as who will start it’s anyone’s guess right now. Anthony Carter(notes) started the first six games alongside Chauncey Billups(notes) in the back-court but Joey Graham(notes) got the start on Saturday at Atlanta with Carter only seeing seven minutes. Arron Afflalo(notes) and Ty Lawson(notes) have both played solid ball off the bench during Smith’s absence so it appears that Karl will have his hands full trying to dole out minutes to several players who deserve them.
