The Atlanta Hawks and restricted free-agent forward Marvin Williams(notes) agreed in principle to a five-year contract worth about $40 million on Wednesday, sources told Yahoo! Sports. The deal isn’t expected to be signed until next week.

Williams averaged 13.9 points, 6.3 rebounds and 1.3 assists in 61 games last season. The 23-year-old was selected by Atlanta with the second overall pick in the 2005 NBA draft.
