Celtics exercise options on four players

BOSTON (Ticker) - The Boston Celtics kept several young players in the fold Thursday, exercising their club options on guards Delonte West, Gerald Green and Sebastian Telfair and forward Al Jefferson for the 2007-08 season.

The 15th pick in the 2004 draft, Jefferson averaged 7.9 points and 5.1 rebounds in 59 games - seven starts - last season after averaging 6.7 points and 4.4 rebounds in 71 contests in his rookie campaign.

West, whom the Celtics selected 24th overall in 2004, averaged 11.8 points, 4.6 assists, 4.1 rebounds and 1.2 steals while starting 71 games last season. He likely will move to his collegiate position of shooting guard after Boston acquired Telfair from the Portland Trail Blazers in a draft-day deal last week.

Telfair averaged 9.5 points, 3.6 assists and one steal in 68 games - 30 starts - for Portland this past season.

Green, the 18th pick in the 2005 draft, averaged 5.2 points in 32 games, including three starts, in his rookie season.
