Farmar to play in Israel during lockout

New Jersey Nets guard Jordan Farmar(notes) has reached agreement to play for Israel's Maccabi Tel Aviv during the NBA lockout, Farmar's agent, Greg Lawrence, told Yahoo! Sports.

Farmar averaged 9.6 points and five assists in 73 games for the Nets last season. He played the first four seasons of his NBA career with the Los Angeles Lakers.

"We have been aggressively pursuing opportunities overseas for our clients like Jordan who have indicated their desire to play during the league imposed lockout," said Lawrence, an agent for Wasserman Media Group. "Jordan has been to Israel several times and has family from there, so he's ecstatic about having the opportunity to live and play there. I doubt he will be the last of our NBA clients to do this."

Wasserman Media also represents players like Derrick Rose, Joe Johnson, Russell Westbrook, and Pau and Marc Gasol.
