John Kuester will sign a three-year contract worth about $6 million on Thursday to become the Detroit Pistons’ coach, a league source familiar with the deal said.

Kuester will be introduced at a late-morning news conference on Thursday in Auburn Hills, Mich.

There is no team option in the contract. The three years are fully guaranteed

Kuester has a history with the Pistons as a former Larry Brown assistant. He has been on several NBA coaching staffs, including Cleveland, Detroit, New Jersey and Philadelphia.
