Jefferson to miss 2 games for family illness

  • Print

MINNEAPOLIS (AP)—Minnesota Timberwolves center Al Jefferson(notes) will miss the next two games because of an illness in his family.

The Timberwolves say Jefferson left the team to be with an ill family member in Florida. He will miss the game Friday night against Dallas and on Saturday at Memphis.

Jefferson is expected to rejoin the team early next week. It’s a big blow to the Timberwolves, who have lost eight straight games since a season-opening win over New Jersey.

Jefferson is averaging 15.1 points and 6.1 rebounds this season. He is still not 100 percent from February surgery on his right knee, but the Wolves will sorely miss his presence in the middle.

Big Al is really feeling it. He must've reached a difficult stretch in in his career. Here's hoping it all passes by. Because he's such a fine and well skilled big man, and with Kevin Love out too, the Wolves had better give some serious consideration to Oleksiy Pecherov. It's time to give that raw Ukrainian 7-footer some serious playing time.

it'll take another season for him to come back from that ACL surgery. Most people don't realize how severe and how long for your knee to recover from that, and most of the time it won't be back to its original state.

Wolves will win the next two games without Jefferson...Jefferson Sucks seriously he can't even hit 50% FG's, and all his shots are in the post or layups...He has no defense, and makes the game boring to watch

Big Al is already an all-star. However, his offensive skills can't hide the fact that he is horrific on the defensive end. Anytime you have a centre or a power forward playing the T-Wolves, you start them because they will have a great game. Before the draft this year, I thought that Minnesota would come out of it with a great young team that would contend in a couple of years, but the picks they did made no sense at all. I don't see this team winning more than 25 games this year, or in the next 3 years.

Maybe the wolves will learn to hold on to there draft picks. that way we are a 50 win team. Roy, Ray Allen, I could go on and on..... be nice to have Steph. Curry here. But no we draft some 18 year old who isn't coming for 2-3 years. great teams make great trades and draft well and we do none of the above!!!! that is why I gave up my season tickets!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
