Thunder exercise options on Durant, 3 others

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP)—The Oklahoma City Thunder have exercised fourth-year contract options on Kevin Durant(notes) and Jeff Green(notes).

Thunder general manager Sam Presti said on Friday that the team also exercised third-year options on guard Russell Westbrook(notes) and forward D.J. White(notes).

The franchise drafted Durant and Green in 2007 and Westbrook and White in 2008. NBA rookies get two-year contracts with teams having the option to pick up a third and fourth season.

With the team exercising its option on the players, all four are now under contract with the Thunder through the 2010-11 season.

This will make very little difference i nthem being a winning team in the near future because these are probably the most talented players they have. Why have they not been able to attract better players in free agency? What happens when Durant, Green, Westbrook and White become free agents? Will they stay or will they leave for more money and/or a chance to play for a team that can at least get to the playoffs?

Can you imagine being stuck in Oklahomo City for even 1 day. I would rather be in Alcatraz.
