No penalties for Chris Paul, Rajon Rondo

  • Print

NEW YORK (AP)—The NBA will not penalize Chris Paul(notes) or Rajon Rondo(notes) for an incident between them after a recent game in Boston.

Paul pursued Rondo toward the Celtics’ locker room and was blocked by Boston assistant coaches after the Celtics’ 97-87 victory over New Orleans on Sunday night. The point guards had been assessed matching technical fouls in the second quarter after they got tangled up under the basket.

League spokesman Tim Frank also says Thursday the league won’t take action against Paul from a game at New York on Monday. Knicks forward Al Harrington(notes) came up with a loose ball after a Hornets turnover with about 5 1/2 minutes left. Paul dove on top of him and made contact with Harrington’s head.

wow....it's a little heated in here. Paul is the best point guard in the league, but it's true he has his problems. His ego can get in the way sometimes, but pretty much all the greats had ridiculous egos(and usually a serious mean streak on the court). He does need to control that a little more, but I don't think he gets out of control very often. His team doesn't belong in the NBA. All I'm saying is that taking a team that doesn't deserve a win.....ever.....to the playoffs with 50+ wins is ridiculous. And for all you say about him being one player on a team of 5, there are some guys that are just worth more. Paul is one of them, just like Kobe, LeBron, Carmelo, Nash, Garnett, Duncan(well, maybe not as much these days), and the guys before him; Jordan, Chamberlain, Russel, Kareem, Magic, and so on....

And you know that's true. He's got a big ego, but he has to have a big ego. If he didn't have that confidence, he wouldn't be as good as he is. You don't think he has a bigger ego than LeBron or Kobe do you?

Yes, CP, is the best, he is a top 3 point guard. When I say learn your craft, its a different KIND of craft, he has to learn how to become a championship point guard, runnng a championship offense. THAT'S THE CRAFT!! He certainly can do it, but he doesn't have the players around him, he doesn't have the team, to compete, surely as a fan of NBA, you can see this. I was just saying that CP has to be patient, and wait for the front office to get him some players. This is what Byron Scott has been trying to get him to see, that he can't win all by himself. He could have easily gotten suspended, and the NBA could have made an example of him, costing his club more misery in losses.

The point guard should be the smartest player on the court, and they usually are. He has to learn how to get his players in the best positions to score, thus making him look good, then; when everyone is off, he has to provide the spark to get the team going. This is the championship craft that I speak of, if he can think team first, then me, he'll get that hardware, it's there for him, but it's sitting up too high right now. He'll get there. You know that the NBA is all ego, it's an ego-driven league and business. You've got to know when to use ego, and when to use knowledge.

I believe that you know enough about the NBA, to know that it is all a huge ego trip!! It's the same way on the playgrounds. Basketball is a ego-driven game. I know that Chris Paul is a top 3 guard in the NBA. Rondo doesn't have anywhere near the game that Paul has on an individual level, but Rondo has the better team. And you know that whoever has the gold is going to talk smak, I wasn't putting down Chris Paul, but until he gets the hardware, he will have to wait, and hope that the front office will bring in the pieces that he needs to win it all. All the greats, had to get that hardware before they could get some recognition. You name 'em. Unfornately, people don't talk about the players who don't win the hardware, time is running out on Lebron, he should have gotten it done last season, but it didn't happen, if he doesn't get it done this season, you will hear less and less about Lebron. All I can say is that it is the nature of the beast!!!

I'm sitting here reading these comments and I'm shaking my head. 1st of all, just because CP3 don't have a ring doesn't mean he should not be able to talk trash, so I don't agree with that Jazzinefx. And also he is a heck of a point guard. You here how the Lebrons, and the Wades was talking how they would love to have a point guard like him. He can score but he do make players around him better. Look what he did for Tyson Chandler! I believe Rondo actually took things too far from reading the reports. He looks like he is high on himself. Rondo is a product of the big 3. Granted he can ball. But if you ask the majority of the league who they would rather have at point guard including his own team mates, guess who they will say??????

Most of you Suck Monkey nuts, your replies show that you all sit behind your Flat Screens and judge the world as if you could do better. While in fact Rondo is one of very few point guards to average a triple double in the playoffs.Chris Paul hasn't done that. This was 2 hours of pushing, shoving, slapping and one-upsmanship which is a common trait of two great players battling it out in any sport. If it was a hockey match with sticks you guys would be slobbering on the television. Neither of you would be able to dribble the ball on an NBA court let alone play at the level these guys do. And for your information Chris Paul and Rondo and every other Professional player that played for a College did contribute millions of dollars to a University or College they played for. Understand your facts, and they are under much more scrutiny than any other person. The people that pay them take home billions over the years in revenue, so what about them? Are they subject to the same rules in this suffering world? No. Always question the minorities, these NBA players including Paul and Rondo are the first ones out there passing out water during crisis like Hurricane Katrina and other catastrophes. Where was Donald Trump, Bill Gates, and all the others who make up that 5% who control 85% of the worlds economy?

The NBA continues to allow thugs like Rondo to freely play dirty ball. Just as was witnessed in the playoffs against the Bulls last year. Also allowing special treatment for people like Labron James to take 4+ steps prior to his shot in the first quarter on Thursday to pump up his ego.Young teams are not only playing against their opponent , but the NBA favoritism given to people to pump up wins for certain teams. There is a predetermined agenda on which teams best suit the NBA in financial gains. Its getting as bad as professional wrestling..... fixed.

Are you freaking kidding me? Paul learn your craft? CP3 is the BEST point guard in the League. He makes every crappy player on this team a better player. Thats his job as the PG but he can't work miracles. Learn something about the player before you decide to type something stupid again.

"What Chris Paul has to realize is that when a player has won some championship hardware, they are going to talk smak to the players who haven't!! Look what happened to Charles Barkley on TNT!!

It's the nature of the beast!! Chris Paul can't compete with Rondo right now, because he doesn't have the TEAM to compete with Rondo right now. Paul has to understand that his mouth can get him into trouble in the NBA. Paul, gets to fat mouthing, and his club will NEVER get him the pieces that he needs to win that Championship. Paul needs to stay humble, and wait for his chance, it will come if he stays cool.

Charles Barkley, and Allen Iverson, never could win championships because their mouths got them into trouble with their organizations, and the organizations let them suffer as superstars with no championships. Barkley got his head rubbed on national television!! Basketball is a team sport, and it requires a TEAM, (players, coaches, owners, general managers, etc.) to win.

Paul is a heck-of-a-player, but he is only ONE player, it takes FIVE starters, and a good BENCH, to win a championship. Paul, learn your craft, polish your craft, be the best TEAMMATE that you can be, put your players in a position to shine, and be successful, and you will get YOUR championship. Then, YOU'LL be ribbing some player who hasn't won a championship, but has tremiendous talent, and promise!!

Paul, THINK, before you ACT!! Perform off of KNOWLEDGE, instead of EGO!!! if you can do that, you'll be right where you need, and want to be, you'll be able to roll in the NBA, as a champion!!! Show us that you are the best, by leading your club, to the NBA FINALS, and leaving as a NBA CHAMPION!!!"

Turn 'em loose for a half time show. Let it not end until one is in the hospital. They were not going to fight they were posturing. If they were really mad they would have done it during the game. My question is what are the legal consequences off the floor? The NBA really has nothing to say about it after the game. The court system does. The NBA can't decide what is assult and battery or inciting. I would love to see this in a real court. "He followed me from my place of work and threatened to strike me." That is worth 90 days in the cooler for stalking and battery.

Paul is always acting like a little btch. He looks as if he's about to cry any minute. I saw him on a sports segment shooting pool with his brother and wanted to fight after he lost. Give him a time-out and a large pacifier. Even while bowling v. Lebron, he was losing and copped an attitude, like a little girl. Change his name to Christy. I've seen Rondo about to fight Ray Allen once and the Teradacyhtal (Garnett) had to come save him.

I am a celtics fan, but i am also a sports fan. CP3 is a better point guard than Rondo right now until Rondo can find a consistent jump shot like CP3. When you play on a team with leaders such as Paul Pierce and Kevin Garrnett and a great cast of role players, all you need to do is facilitate. Any mediocre guard can do that. You put CP3 on that team and he also has a ring, but games may have been more lob sided because defenders would have to colapse on chris because he cah hit the jumper, therefore opening the middle and visa versa.
