TNT has most-watched night of its NBA coverage

  • Print

NEW YORK (AP)—The doubleheader featuring title contenders Boston, Cleveland and the Los Angeles Lakers produced Turner’s most-watched opening night in its 26 years of airing the NBA.

TNT drew nearly 3.7 million viewers Tuesday for the Celtics’ 95-89 victory over the Cavaliers, followed by the Lakers’ 99-92 win over the Clippers. That was a 43 percent increase over the 2.6 million that watched last year’s opening-night doubleheader.

Overall, it was TNT’s most-watched doubleheader since Feb. 2, 1996, a night that was anchored by a Bulls-Lakers showdown.

TNT drew a 2.3 U.S. household rating for Tuesday’s coverage.

Cavs fan right here so shut up. Why would someone brag about their team being 1-0. I can see the bragging about the championship but come on now, saying something about being 1-0 is funny. Why can't Laker fans get over the fact that the King won MVP last year? They cried about it during the Playoffs last year and what do you know. The first NBA post I have made this year and here is a Laker fan talking about King James getting the MVP and Kobe being the "real" MVP. And there are only 10 posts on here at this point. It doesn't take long does it. GO CAVALIERS!! They will be fine, I'm not concerned about the 0-2 start. Its a loooooong season.
