MRI on Birdman’s knee reveals no structural damage

  • Print

DENVER (AP)—The Denver Nuggets say Chris “Birdman” Andersen is day-to-day with moderate patellar tendinitis in his right knee.

Anderson has been sore, so he underwent an MRI on Wednesday in Denver, and Dr. Steve Traina said the test revealed no structural damage.

Also, guard Anthony Carter(notes) is listed as questionable for the Nuggets’ game Friday night against the Clippers in Los Angeles. He has sat out the last two games with a strained left hip.

Ok you naysayers, Denver is a better team with Chris in the game. He is a defensive player no doubt. How can you say without his blocked shots and rebounding he is not even a good defensive player. What the hell you think defense is moron? Chris does know his role and he lives up to it you jelouse jerk. Again Denver is a better team with Anderson in the mix. Even more evident tonight don't you think? Go Chris, get better and make yourself proud.

They should just send him home for a while. letting him play with a crap knee is only going to get worse and worse. Once he's completely better, he'll be back to his old self, with a little jump shot in the mix! :]

Wow! Here come the haters again... We're talking about his injury here and not his paycheck. Some stupid morons who are jealous of the money he's making per year are striking again. Get a life suckers! Go Birdman! Go Nuggets!

By the way, Lakers won't repeat this year. I would either root for the Celtics (even if I don't like this team). It's either Celtics, Cavs, Nuggets, Magic this year.

All I saw the birdman do was perch up in the paint and get dunked on by the Lakers. I guess he was LeBron before Jordan Crawford made Lebron a dunk tank.

Nice to see Anderson coming back; however, contrary to at least one post, the Nuggets are still one of the best teams in the West even without him. I still think they need one more big man (Channing Frye, maybe?) because the Birdman can be muscled. Still, gotta luv the energy this guy brings. The thing I like is he never gives up on a play, he'll chase seemingly uncontested layups & many times either block the shot or cause it to be missed.

Major CONGRATULATIONS are in order for Andersen. And for quite a few reasons. As for the naysayers here, let's not forget his + - . Birdman injects a ton of intensity when he takes the court, drawing the notice of both the opposition and his teammates. I believe he is a major benefit to the Nuggets by most any objective measure of his overall impact.

He works hard for that money and he deserve it. Without him during the playoff, The Chicken Denver Nugget won't get past the first round.

not every guy on the floor has to be a scorer, he knows his role, he's worth the money for all the extra posessions he gets the nuggets on the offensive glass and providing that energy spark off the bench... also averaging that amount of blocks in that little amount of time is sick.

A bad contract for the Nuggets, who will regret the length and the money shelled out to him, especially for a role player. They could have used a part of the mid level exception (and wouldn't have had to use the entire thing either), but instead signed him outright. Don't know how much sense that makes, especially in later years. Marketing wise, he's not that popular, how many jerseys of his are sold locally and nationally... not that much. And like someone else posted earlier, he can't play offense, and when he isn't trying for blocks, how good is his defense?

Terrible deal for the Nuggets from a basketball standpoint. Unless he is willing to improve his non-existant offense, this is too much money. However it may be worth it from a marketing standpoint, as the Denver fans have really taken to him.

over 5 mill per yr (on the avg) for a guy who had no real offensive game and isn't that great defensively (not talking about blocked shots or rebounding). Defensively as in one on one vs another PF or C......he's undersized bulk wise.
