Nets pick up contract options on Lee, Yi and Lopez

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. (AP)—The New Jersey Nets have exercised contract options on starters Courtney Lee(notes), Brook Lopez(notes) and Yi Jianlian(notes) for the 2010-11 seasons.

The Nets on Thursday also declined to exercise the fourth-year contract option on forward Sean Williams(notes), the team’s first-round draft pick in 2007 and the 17th pick overall.

The options that the Nets picked up on Lopez and Lee were for their third seasons. Lopez will earn $2.41 million, while Lee will get $1.34 million. The option on Yi is for his fourth season and it will earn him just over $4 million.

Williams would have earned $2.5 million had the team pick up his fourth-year option.

    but......... Lopez is actually REALLY Good. Not the best but very good. Lee has huge upside and could be an All Star by next year.

    I hope this works out for the Nets since they have not been a good team since kidd & the gang were in town. I would like to know were you get the Satilite TV software for your PC. I realize this would be better for me since my landlord don't want Direct TV on his property. So please let me know how to get it. I realize the Celtics are the team to beat with Garrent back in camp.

    I agree that Lopez's going to be a very good center in the nba considering that Shaq is about to retired. Lee is going to be an above average player, but I don't know about Yi man. To me I think that he is a basketball player with a 10 cents mind. in other words he does not have basketball IQ....

    Lee was a gun in Orlando last year, and should continue in that same form. Yi is a work in progress, but he is still young enough to much much better. Lopez is already a top 10 Center in the League, and he is a soph this year. 3rd string? @#$% you.

    Ha Ha, the Nets are signing Moe, Larry and Curly, the three stooges, these guys are not going to help you get to the playoffs. You need to get some real talent, these bums would be third string on any contender. That cheap ass owner needs to spend some money, or sell the team. Nets fans are good fans, but they need to start complaining. Hopefully they will try to get some of the real talent, that is becomming available in 2010, since they obviously wrote this season off already.
