Nets F Yi out indefinitely with right knee sprain
EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. (AP)—The New Jersey Nets say an MRI performed on forward Yi Jianlian(notes) confirmed that he has sprained a ligament in his right knee.
The Nets said Tuesday that Yi will begin rehabilitation immediately and there is no timetable for his return.
Yi was injured in Monday night’s 79-68 loss at Charlotte.
Yi was near the basket when Bobcats forward Gerald Wallace(notes) fell and rolled into his leg midway through the third quarter. Yi crumpled to the floor and put no pressure on his right leg as he left.
The 22-year-old Yi, who played for China’s Olympic team, came to the Nets in a 2008 trade.

FYI Yi had been playing for the chinese team throughout the offseason. WIthout Yao he was carrying the team on his back. Thats the way it is for international players, Gasol, Yao, Parker....

does frank not remember how insane that kids potential is? he honestly might be the most athletic guy over 6'9 in the whole NBA. look up his highlights from his rookie year when he actually got some time on the court. they need to show some confidence in him. yeah he makes a JR smith look like a basketball genius but if sean williams can learn how to play smarter and be even 3/4 of what he could be, hed be better than yi. with sean williams and brook lopez together, harris and their 3 swingmen would be able to pressure and gamble for steals cuz those 2 together could easily average over 6 blocks a game.
