How about King James and MJ as teammates?

  • Print

MIAMI (AP)—A day after he cut off questions about becoming a free agent next year, LeBron James(notes) raised the idea of playing with Michael Jordan.

James said that was his dream as a kid.

With the Cleveland Cavaliers’ star facing the Miami Heat’s Dwyane Wade(notes) for the first time this season Thursday, the focus was on the possibility they might join forces. Both can opt out of their contracts next year.

“In a fantasy world, there are a lot of guys in the NBA you would love to see how could you be on the same team and see how you match up with the rest of the NBA,” James said before the game. “Not just myself, everybody in the league has visualized playing with somebody, even guys who are not in the league anymore. I visualized playing alongside Michael Jordan when I was a kid. Everyone has that vision.”

Jordan was at Thursday night’s game and sat next to Heat president Pat Riley.

As for Wade, James said he makes the Heat a potential postseason force.

“Any time you’ve got a guy who can take the game over in the fourth quarter like Dwyane Wade can, they are a contender,” James said.

The two shared a warm embrace just before tip-off.

On Wednesday, Wade said the pair have talked about going to the same team. Later that day, James told reporters he wouldn’t talk any more about free agency until after this season.

“It never became stressful to me,” the reigning NBA MVP said Thursday. “How many ways can I answer the free-agent question? It got to a point where I can’t answer it any other way, so it didn’t make any sense for me to keep talking about it.”

How about we go one game without talking about the off-season. I can't watch one game without hearing if James would fit into another teams roster next year. Can we please enjoy this season. Every team will lay claim that LeBron will go there. How about we just wait till summer and find out. I'm glad james is not talking anymore about it. Now if the media would shut-up.

If you knew anything about NBA contracts you would see why he would want a NEW contract instead of signing extension. He stands to make MILLIONS AND MILLIONS more waiting until he can sign a new one rather than extending.

    Re: "justinian, comment +131"

Are you stupid dude? Or just plain ignorant? If you're using a Charles Barkley quote to justify your point, then you are not going to win. Lebron is an A$$?? How so? Because he didnt congratulate a team for beating him? WHat competitor likes to act happy when they lose? A TRUE competitor doesnt give in to losing or smile and shake hands with his enemies/oponenents 10 seconds after losing. So you can shove it up your A$$ with that kind of smack about lebron. He's been a class act since day 1 and he has earned the right to get "vlade divac/ginobli" calls because he's that damn good. He can talk about his future when and where he wants and if he's had enough then the damn public needs to accept it and wait till 2010 offeseason.

ANYBODY WHO HATES LEBRON HAS NO REAL JUSTIFICATION FOR IT. THEY JUST LOVE TO HATE. THE REIGNING MVP WILL GO ALL THE WAY THIS YEAR. with or without his weak supporting class.

Lebron James became an @#$% the moment he began entertaining the media regarding his 2010 free agency & the ideas of him in New York or elsewhere or teaming w/ Dwayne Wade, etc. He needed to shut his ever-growing hole on the matter long ago, but egos being what they are these days.................

Charles Barkley legitimately called him on it last year, & rightly criticized him for it, saying that Lebron just needed to cool it about possibly going to another team & just concentrate on Cleveland & winning a championship. Lebron's response to that Barkley comment? A 9-year-old couldn't have put it any better: "He's (Barkley) just stupid." Real mature there, “LeCar”. The moment he spewed that gem of a pre-teen comeback out was also the moment his credibility got flushed down the toilet. Even more surprising was that someone actually said something even more asinine or outrageous than Charles Barkley. Epic.

And so Lebron, you've now finally decided to take Barkley's advice & shut your trap on the matter, albeit in a roundabout, indirect, & eventual manner, not to mention a year too late. But the damage has already been done. You've lost a lot of respect w/ a lot of people over the past year; not just w/ the free agency debacle, but w/ all of your combined antics -- i.e. the (un)gracious manner in which you lost in the east finals last year, your William Shatner-esque overacting worse-than-Vlade-Divac-&-Manu-Ginobili-combined Flops that your throng of groupies (i.e. NBA referees) inexplicably fall for time & time again. So now that you've ventured into I'm-Now-An-@#$% land, what better way to train you further in the Way of the@#$% than to become the new apprentice to the reigning Emperor of the @#$%s -- Shaq F-U O'Neal. Move over Kobe, looks like Darth Lebron is now the favored queen of the Shaq.

I liked you better as a puppet...

    Rram67........

How exactly could he have ended this earlier? The media is at fault here..........they won't quit grilling him about it.

    Now he has had enough!

I think he has handled it pretty well......not too shabby for someone who is the face of the league.

And who's to say the league didn't play a part in all this. Stern's motto......."the more exposure for the league......the better."
