MRI confirms ankle sprain for Chris Paul

  • Print

NEW ORLEANS (AP)—Further tests on Chris Paul’s(notes) ankle show nothing beyond a sprain, but there is no timetable for the star point guard’s return to the New Orleans Hornets.

The team says an MRI confirmed the initial diagnosis. Paul twisted his left ankle in the Hornets’ loss Friday night to Portland. Team spokesman Dennis Rogers said Monday that Paul will be evaluated daily but remains out indefinitely.

In 10 games this season, Paul has averaged 23.8 points and 9.2 assists.

The Hornets are 3-8 and have lost three straight and five out of six. That span included the firing of coach Byron Scott and his replacement two games ago by general manager Jeff Bower.

Maybe this is a good thing for the hornets, the hornets needs to learn how to win without Chris Paul. When Chris do come back, alot of the pressure will be off of him because other teams will respect the other players. Hey, I think the hornets should pick up Allen Iverson and Jerry Stackhouse and lets see where that will take us.

No timetable for Paul's return from injury ? How about a timetable for managments return from Mental injury. You fire one on the NBA's premier coaches, infuriate the superstar, then you coax the underplaying, overpaid, David West to say "we really didnt run any plays". Star players dont need a play run for them in order to score points. Ever heard of Kobe Bryant? And what is the excuse for lack of defense ? Managements unwillingness to keep Chris Pauls scoring options, Pargo gone last season, highlight dunker Chandler for Emeka this year, have hurt this team immeasurably. Very good team gone bad, quickly.

Trade Chris Paul? Cmon man! CP3 is the best point guard depending on who you ask and is a corner stone piece for any franchise. Ask the Knicks!!!! Seems as if the commentary made in a lot of cases have nothing to do with tha article written. I do not think that this kid is faking an injury because Byron Scott was let go of. The Hornets were a Western Conference contender a few years ago when they had a full compliment of healthy players, but at best they had success with smoke and mirrors and those players that had career years had those years because they got the rock in scoring position. (Why do you think that was?) In a perfect world CP3 will come back from injury soon, Okefor will play up to being the 2d pick in the draft, Peja will find a stroke from 5-10 years ago and Donald Shinn will commit to winning.

Hey Randy (#25). First of all, I see you did well in your high school English classes. In this wonderful language we call English (I speak two), quotation marks should be used around my quotes, not yours, so I would like to express my gratitude for alerting us all of your intelligence level before I even get started.

Statement 1: (Thanks by the way, because now when I copy your quotes I don't even need to add the quotation marks)

"Yeah I think all the current players in the NBA should quit wearing jersey no.3 to honor all the championships and great accomplishments of Chris Paul."

Did I say anything close to that? No, what I said was its never a good idea to TRADE!!!!!!!!!! a future hall of famer. Lets go through: James, Howard, Rose, Parker, Williams, Durant; Some of the best young players in the league. How many of those teams do you think should trade their under 28 franchise players because they went 3-8?

True, every game counts, but my only point here is that before the season started Cp3 was going to be a hornet for life in everyone's eyes. Now, due to typical rediculous journalism, the head coach gets fired (BTW to all my fair weather bball friends, that happens often!) and Paul SPRAINS HIS ANKLE, and all of a sudden the roof falls off.

Anyways, I'f your on the east coast man, I could hook you up with a crash course on grammar, just let me know.

It's quite unreal how some people allow themselves to so misunderstand the obvious. The evidence of the MRI has clearly indicated the sprain. The coincedence of Paul's injury and Scott's dismissal is just that, a coincedence. Chris Paul has if nothing else, shown himself to be the ultimate competitor and team player. It's totally out of space to even associate his position on front office issues and his comittment to his fellow players. One of his most significant statistics is his assists. That's just one clear indicator of his unselfish demeanor and comittment to team success. Any assumptions otherwise would be classless and totally irresponsible......This young man is an NBA class act !

Anyone who watched the game (hint: you should do that from time to time to know what you are talking about) would see that he cleary sprained his ankle pretty good when he fell.

So, let me get this straight, Chris paul sprains his ankle and it means:
He´s faking an injury because he´s pissed they fired byron scott.
The hornets are going to dismantle the team.
He´s leave and play for the Lakers.... no Cavs with lebron.... no Charlotte.... no! New york.

And yet only one of them actually made me laugh out loud. You know who you are "HELLO."
"TRADE CP3 FOR MO WILLIAMS AND ZEEK." HAHAHAHAH. i can´t even type that with a straight face. "While he STILL HAS VALUE" Haha, yeah as if the best point guard and player (in terms of skill) in the world is going to suddenly lose trade value sometime soon. Always a good Idea to trade future hall-of-famers/has-the-chance-to-be-the-best-point-guard-ever players.

If things like that went down the hornets problems would be fixed. We could just trade Sean Marks and Devin Brown to the Thunder for Kevin Durant. They´ll be looking to get rid of him before he stops scoring 40 a game and loses his trade value.

Can we get a yahoo piece on, as any good NBA fan would know, the complete meaninglessness of the first ten games of an NBA season?

Everyone Keep up the good work.

Purely on a Fantasy Basketball basis I'd love CP3 to jump out of bed tomorrow feeling 100%. Unfortunately I agree with the majority of you who say that this will probably end up being a 'grudge injury'.

Lets face it though guys... with/without Paul for a few weeks the Hornets are never making the playoffs with David West playing the way he is and Okafor still grasping the system. Also, where are the other guys? Peja is past it and the rest of those guys seem to have no fight in them.

They should go for a high draft pick... assuming there is any strength in the upcoming draft class?

Trade CP3 now before his value goes away. Heck trade West and Paul for someone good. At least you will get value for it.

Heck trade CP3 for Moe Williams and Zeek.

Well just gonna throw this out there, but maybe he should take a good 2 months off so the Hornets can tank the season so badly that they can finally get another good player that they won't have to pay 10 mil a year for. He needs a supporting cast, so what better way than getting a good pick...because we all know the Hornets will be lucky to win 3 games without him.

Hornets might as well get used to this, because after his contract is up he's gone. Looks like Seattle just might get the Hornets when all of this is said and done. CP3 might just wind up in Charlotte or with the Knicks.

Obviously if this is the management mentality, Scott is much better off with a team that appreciates him. Chris Paul will play for Scott in the future and the Hornets will live to regret there decision. Second rate franchise.!
