Haslem sits out against Hawks with sore shoulder

  • Print

ATLANTA (AP)—Miami Heat forward Udonis Haslem(notes) is sitting out against the Atlanta Hawks because of an ailing left shoulder.

Haslem said before Wednesday night’s game that his shoulder began hurting about a week ago after a stint in the weight room. He aggravated the injury Tuesday when he fell on his shoulder during a loss to Oklahoma City.

Haslem said he wanted to be on the court but the coaching staff decided to play it safe. The Heat hope he will play Friday at Toronto.

    GOOD,
Maybe that will give him time to take care of the woman in Ft Lauderdale that was bit by his PIT BULL and received between 50 and 100 stitches. YES you heard me right his PIT BULL bit a 20 year old woman and he doesn't give a @#$% about it and the women. Where did I hear this, through a friend of the young lady.
Ok it happened at the animal spa so technically it isn't his responsibility because the dog wasn't in his care at the time BUT shouldn't he still care how the woman is doing.
I guess when you become rich and SOMEWHAT famous you don't need to care about other people!!!!!

Theirs mixed feelings about this. Q.Rich is known to be inconsistent and eratic with his shot selection. Beasley has yet to develop a solid defensive game, specially against bigger power forwards. It is hard to replace a consistent 12 and 10 energy guy like Udonis, but he will lead that second unit and lead the team along side Wade. I hope he keeps the same role and amount of minutes though... (i drafted him in the 14 round of my 14 team fantasy bball league!!!)

Udonis is a dying breed of a team player. Still think it is a good move for the Heat, Mr. Beasley should produce more offense,

Q will be coming off the bench in no time. Doesn't mean Haslem will replace him.

Umm, Udonis Haslem is not a starting quality PF anyway. Lets be real...he started next to Shaq at first and the past few years they hav had no talent around, he HAD to start. I kno his 12pts and 8rb will be very tough to replace *sarcasm*, but i think they'll b ok.

Haslem is a great "PLAYER" and great "TEAM PLAYER." A great player and team player will accept any role handed to him. There's nobody on that Heat team that works as hard as Udonis and gives you 100% game in and game out. He is still the Captain of the team only coming off the bench. More than likely, he's still going to get the same amount of playing time, only just not starting. This really isn't a demotion like people are calling this, but yet being a team player so an outstanding second year rookie can finish developing and mature quicker like the likes of Kevin Durant, Derrick Rose, OJ Mayo, and Blake Griffin (before the injury). These guys went on to immediately start because their respective franchises needed these players ASAP. Unlike a Heat team that already has a Franchise player in Wade. I have mad respect for Udonis. Of course he is going to have some emotion about it, he's a human being for crying out loud. As far as points and him not scoring like Beasley, well if they would run more offensive plays for him like they did Beasley last year, I think his scoring average would be better too. Personally, I think our bench needs an offensive and defensive upgrade and Haslem is the perfect candidate. Beasley can't guard like Haslem, sorry. People forget Haslem played Center last year before the arrival of J.O. and did a very good job at it for a guy his height. Regardless of everything, Udonis is still going to be Udonis and still give the 100% he puts into his game. Dedicationwise and heartwise, he is the new Alonzo Mourning.

Don't like it. Start Udonis and Beasley, have Q-Rich come off the bench. Lots of 6'10" SF now.

this wont last long...as other people mentioned here, Beasly will more likely struggle on D and he is not that polished on offense...Haslem will be back on the starting line-up i say no more than 20 games into the season.

haslem paired with a good C is a championship front court combination. Unfortunately J oneal isnt that kinda C anymore. They will need haslem when they play Dwight Howard/Shaq.

So I havne't gotten to see Haslem play that much, but from what I did he seems alot tougher on 'D' than Beasley? Right?

So this will a balanced change.

Michael Beasley has an outside game compared to Haslem. I' am sure this type of rotation will benefit the Heat in many games. If things does not work out for Beasley then Haslem is just waiting to be inserted back to the starting 5. Not too many teams have a player like Udonis Haslem's professionalism & personality. So Michael Beasley should treat this seriously & not disappoint his Coach & team.

#1 are you serious? Loyalty in professional sports? I wouldn't be surprised if they traded Haslem before the deadline.

I am guessing this will not last, because Beasley still thinks that he is the star of the Heat (or wherever he's playing). Haslem is great on D and an unselfish player...Beasley is a ball hog that's yet to truly find his spot in the NBA. Once the Heat's FG % drops after the first few games, Haslem will be back as the starter.

Hard decision to make, but we are on the outside looking in. I'm sure the coaches and team see this as a better look starting M. Beasley over U Haslem. I see Haslem being the best 6th man this year and I'm sure he will continue to get good minutes throughout. Hope you cats have a great season, and I look forward to D Wade taking us deep into the post season.

The NBA, like the NHL, is one sport where it doesn't even matter who starts. The more depth the better. He'll still get his minutes. I'm glad the Heat have more depth now.
