Yaroslav Korolev Draft Capsule

VITALS: 6-9, 203, CSKA Moscow (Russia)

OVERVIEW: Korolev, who just turned 18 on May 7, spent most of this past season with the CSKA junior team in the Russian Junior League. Korolev averaged 15.9 points, 5.8 rebounds, 2.2 assists and 1.8 steals in 25.3 minutes, helping the squad win the junior team tournament at the Euroleague Final Four. This past season, Korolev made 53 percent of his shots from the floor and nearly 40 percent from the arc.

LIKELY DRAFT POSITION: The rumor mill has the Clippers taking him at 12, although Indiana would likely snap him up if he lasted to 17.

ROLE PROJECTION: Scoring small forward.

POSITIVES: Korolev has quickness and ballhandling ability that belie his height. Unlike some of the European prospects who have been dissected for years, Korolev has burst into prominence and into the hearts of scouts in the last year. He showed his vast repertoire of offensive skills in a game for juniors played at the Euroleague Final Four. In addition to his guard-like passing abilities, his shot is getting better all the time. He averaged 16.2 points in 21 games in Russia’s junior league and chipped in 6.8 rebounds to boot.
