Mavericks to acquire Butler
The Washington Wizards and Dallas Mavericks have reached agreement on their trade that will exchange Caron Butler(notes) and Josh Howard(notes), league sources told Yahoo! Sports.
The Mavericks also will acquire center Brendan Haywood and guard DeShawn Stevenson while sending Drew Gooden, Quinton Ross and James Singleton to Washington.
The trade strengthens the Mavericks' frontline while giving the Wizards greater financial flexibility to rebuild in the wake of Gilbert Arenas' suspension.
