Hornets acquire Smith, Green

The New Orleans Hornets have traded forwards Craig Brackins(notes) and Darius Songaila(notes) to the Philadelphia 76ers for Jason Smith(notes) and Willie Green(notes), league sources told Yahoo! Sports.

New 76ers president Rod Thorn had targeted Brackins in the June draft, but the Hornets selected him with the No. 21 pick. Songaila averaged 7.2 points and 3.1 rebounds in 75 games for the Hornets last season. He will make $4.8 million in the last year of his contract this season.

Smith, a 7-foot forward/center, was a first-round pick of the Sixers in 2007. He averaged 3.4 points and 2.4 rebounds in 56 games last season.

Green, a 6-3 shooting guard, had spent all seven seasons of his NBA career in Philadelphia. He averaged 8.7 points and 2.1 assists in 73 games last season and will make $4 million in the final year of his contract.
