The 2009 NBA Draft's stage was filled with sharp, conservative suits, black baseball caps and a lots of purple. There were no full-on fashion disasters, which is good for fashion but boring for us. Regardless, we've rummaged through the night's photos to try and figure out who the best and worst dressed rookies were.
Let's hear your favorites, both good and bad, in the comments below.

Leading up to the NBA Draft there was chatter of Ricky Rubio's preference to play in a big market. Well, Minnesota certainly isn't one, and according to the Spanish sports site Marca.com, the father of the new Timberwolves point guard says his son may remain in Spain for a few more years rather than play in the NBA. Talk about cold feet.
Ricky's pop, Esteve Rubio: "Ahora mismo, es muy probable que Ricky se quede uno o dos años en Europa." Translated, it says, "Right now, it is possible that Ricky plays a year or two more in Europe."
"Tenemos que hablar con la gente de Minnesota ... y ver lo que pasa, porque, a estas horas, podemos estar en Minnesota o en otra parte", declaraba." Loosely translated: "We are going to speak with the [people, staff] of Minnesota and see what's happening, because, in some hours, we may be in Minnesota or in another place."
Earlier in the evening, Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo! Sports reported that the Knicks were working hard to cut a deal with the Timberwolves to acquire Rubio. New York's a big enough market, si? The flashy teen was one of three point guards taken by Minnesota in the opening round of the Draft, with new Wolves general manager David Kahn snapping up Ricky at No. 5, Jonny Flynn of Syracuse at No. 6 and North Carolina's Ty Lawson at No. 18, though he was subsequently traded to Denver.
Decisions, decisions ...

OK, I've got the cake and snacks covered, but this party still needs a good drink — preferably something alcoholic. Anyone got a good punch recipe that involves rum and cinnamon? Yeah? Good. Pass me that ladle, Ricky.
Welcome to the 2009 NBA Draft, live at Ball Don't Lie. Tonight I'll be joined by Kelly Dwyer, "Phenomenal" Trey Kerby from The Blowtorch and Eamonn Brennan from Yahoo!'s own NCAA blog, The Dagger.
We'll be here all night, or at least until that Victor Claver guy is off the board, so shoot us a comment or nine. If it's lottery-worthy, you'll see it on BDL. If it's not — don't panic — it just means we didn't read it. (I'm kidding.)
See you in there.

Some people know nothing about college basketball. Tas and I are two of these people. So for all of you who keep asking us for some sort of Basketball Jones NBA Draft preview show ... well, sorry, there's a reason we didn't shoot one this season. Here's why ...

Ball Don't Lie combined with SB Nation (and a few others) to put together this epic 2009 Mock Draft. The individual blogs, linked with their respective picks and breakdowns, made the selections for their team.
It should be noted that these selections were made before Minnesota acquired Washington's 5th pick and Dallas and Portland swapped late first-rounders.

Understand that I've earned the right to be a cynical, dour,
mope among mopes.
Lots of mopes in this profession, but none of them ran a live blog during the 1999, 2000, or 2002 Drafts. None of them, between pathetic attempts at establishing an R+B career between bartending gigs, commented on a 2003 live blog. Didn't run it. Commented.
Sure, other scribes have done the work and worked the sources and sourced their work, but when it comes to burning oneself out on link after link after link, I'm the guy who should be skulking off to my local tonight, freeing himself from the tyranny of getting it all wrong, again, continuing a decade-long streak.
