Ball Don't Lie - NBA

Last night's Sacramento Kings/Dallas Mavericks matchup was an unmitigated classic, one of several close games on the docket, and we'll get into all of them as the morning drags on.

Until then, let's take a look at some improved Kings defense, courtesy of The X's and O's of Basketball.

From the (great) site:

"Though you wouldn't think it from their record (15-21) and their 101.8 ppg they allow, but the Kings are developing into a very aggressive defensive team under Theus. They play hard M2M defense both in transition and in the half-court, they trap the post and the wing, they jump passes to the wing, it's a very aggressive, gambling style defense."

Once again, the clip offers no audio. So, because it's been in our head all morning long, we offer this as a soundtrack

good to see sac fans excited about their team. but then again, there is nothing else to do there. it'll still be quite awhile until they can put a good team on the court on a consistent basis. they acted like they won the championship last night. embarrassing for them.

    Wow, all the Kings haters!
Go somewhere else leave our board along.
The Kings are doing great. Much better than 1st round playoff by the Maverick last year!
Wow, losing 3 main starters and still have a 15-21 record? No. 2, you're right. He's very talented and very humble. A good role model! Go Kings!

Kevin Martin humble? He came off as as arrogant as they come! He played great, we couldn't guard him, but man he looked like a prick. I am amused by their "improving" defense, allowing only 120 points including letting the Mavs come back from down 9 with a few minutes left, including letting them tie or take the lead on consecutive possessions. The Mavs were horrible defensively, and the refs were horrible considering they made at least 10 fouls on the Mavs that should have been no calls. I have never seen so many offensive fouls in my life. However, if you look at the stats, the Mavs rarely win when Danny Crawford is the lead official for the games. Weird.

I think all the Dallas fans are still trying to get over the Ka-boys getting their collective butts kicked And I wouldn't trade any 2 Mav's players for Kevin Martin! I bet they went to their locker room and had a good cry.......like the ka-boys did

Kevin Martin can shoot, but what else does he do??? Well, this season he is averaging 4.7 rebounds and only 2 assists per game. Last season only 4.7 boards and still 2 assists!! He is decent on defense but gets killed by bigger two gaurds. So congrats Kings fans, your only bright spots is a light skinned dude who can shoot and a convicted wife beater!!!

Yes Finally! The Kings are getting some buzz and national attention on Yahoo. That music oddly goes with the clip well. Can't wait to see the Kings storm up the standings to the playoffs!

Just curious how Kevin Martin was arrogant. I didn't see the game, so I was just wondering cuz it sounds out of place.

Mav fans.. you gotta love them for their short memory, like last seasons 1st round playoff bust.. The Dallas Mavericks are the softest team in the NBA.. Do you really believe they are any better this year? What the Kings have accomplished with so many injuries is impressive. How would the Mavericks play without Dirk and two other key players?

First of all, Kevin Martin is a great role model unlike some of the other NBA players. He is very humble, great attitude, and great work ethic!
Second of all, Mavs or Kings fan, you must recognize that it was a great game no matter who won!
Third of all, Kevin Martin may be known for his shooting, but he is a young growing athlete who has plenty of speed, passing ability, good defense, and much more. Alot of promise for this young star!
Lastly, the Kings racord may be bad now, but playing without Artest, Bibby, and K-mart, and still finding ways to pull out victorious is amazing! Players lke Salmons and Garcia have stepped up tremendously and will be a great asset to the King's bench when the starters get back!
P.S. Can we wait until at least the All-Star break to talk about playoffs?

how good of a team would dallas be if they were missing nowitzki, howard, and terry at the same time. i am willing to bet that they would have a much worse record than 15-21.

The Mavs suck! They should trade Nowitzki for Kevin Martin and Stackhouse, Juwan Howard, Jones, Hassel, Diop, Dampier and Terry for Jason Kidd (yeah, seven old Mavs for one old Net). They, also, should send Bass, for the rest of the season, to ballet school to learn body control. The useless Ager and Fazekas should be waived. Donnie Nelson should be fired. The Mavs should then be composed of Kidd, Martin, J-Ho, Harris, Barea, Bass (inactive) and 9 players from the D-League, all signed for just the rest of the season to play for the lottery. Cuban should then pirate Ainge from the Celtics to replace Nelson. His job is to rebuild the Mavs for next season.
