Ball Don't Lie - NBA

In an effort to harness and telepathically send the collective energy of some 10,000 homers to the Lakers while they were playing in Boston, Lakers fans were allowed to watch Games 1 and 2 of the Finals in the Staples Center. Unfortunately, so were Celtics fans. Yep. Bad idea blue jeans.

You know, that is exactly what the BDL live blog would look like if we did it in-person.

So, my place, Tuesday night?

As much as LA fans are portrayed as latte-drinking silicon implant having bandwagoners, most of us in general are pretty thuggish. Ever been to a Dodger game?

Phil Jackson is a great coach, but he should be the last one to complain about calls. I remember when the refs missed so many calls against Shaq that their seeing eye dogs were upset. Also, how many ten second violations did they get away with?

Wow, Aaron. That's a fine way of life in LA then. Just because people can't afford the 300 buck seats they have the right to punch the mustard out of a Bean belly. Yup. If so, they should be provided with clubs upon entrance to give a rightful beatdown to people who just happen to be in LA, probably evenly unable to afford the flight to watch their team at home or the nosebleads in LA. Give me a break. That's a bunch of hooligans for real to beat down a single person away from home.

phil jackson's comment about the 2nd game between laker and celtic is absolutely correct. the refereeing was totally partial towards celtics. half the fouls against lakes were totally uncalled for. for example, during the fourth quarter, coby was fouled against ray allen for elbowing before he even got the ball. it was a ridiculous call by the referee. i therefore, wonder, how much money did the referees got from celtics?

i could care less to who actually goes to games kid, those are the superficial fans that you see on tv, from the inland empire to the south side l.a. is filled with hard-working people enjoying a brew and rooting for their team in mass.
And that my friend, is in direct contrast to the "im irish one week per year just so I can drink up a storm" boston fans that have suddenly started watching basketball again because they rented some old players for one or two years that have nothing to do with celtics lore.

You don't have a clue what you're talkin about man. If you're tellin me Paul Pierce has nothin to do with Celtics lore you're crazy. Also how is getting KG any different than the Lakers robbing memphis of the froggy spaniard? Like Pau Gasol, the dude who brought the Lakers a winning record this season, knows a thing about Jerry West or the history. The only difference between Celtics fans and Lakers fans is that we don't have a man crush for our superstar(s), we follow a team.

Mando M - Take me out of it! I'm from Inland Empire and totally abhor Laker's fans hooliganism. We are actually civilized up here and can't tolerate Phil's whining, Kobe's arrogance and the overall team mates subservience to Kobe. I stopped being a fan when Shaq, who was actually the one responsible for those championship rings, was unceremouniously hounded out of the team -- and now, it's championship drought for Lakers until the NBA commissioner unabashedly voiced out preference for Lakers to be in the Finals.
The swollen headed Hollywood actors wannabee Lakers team and the tuggish fans deserve each other.

Who cares? Boston and L.A. in the finals was played out in the '80s. This year is a one-off with no true rivalry between the two anymore. These are rent-a-players, it's not compelling to watch. Portland will be the class of the Western Conference for the next decade, everyone else is aging fast. If the Blazers can land Luke Walton, they will be set for a long, long time... kind of like when the Dead added Mickey Hart!

I was there too. It was an intense scene and as a die-hard Laker fan I was embarrassed at the lengths people go to to pick up fights with other people. That wasn't the only fight in the building. Two girls were going to go at it, a Kobe fan and a Garnett fan. Until security escorted both out. I mean there might be occasions where you have to stand up and fight, but for a sporting event....come on, it's not worth it. I think in cases like these you should think to yourself...W.W.K.D....what would kobe do? :) I'm kidding. but anyway lets not make a reenactment of the L.A. riots Lakers fans. We're better than that.

What has happened is that this season's referee's are on Boston's Payroll...simple as that! LAKERS ALL DAY BABY!!!!!!!!!!!

check your stats again. Only this year has Boston have more away games and home games sell out and higher avg. Last year you guys were in the middle of the list. Your fans are the true "bandwagon" fans. WE HAVE REAL FANS THAT GO EVERY YEAR EVERY GAME. Just because now your playing good your "fans" are there. We stick with our team thru the ups and downs. We're true fans. #@#$ Boston.

how are "all" Laker fans bandwaggoners? I've been a Lakers fan since I was born because of my dad and growing up watching the Lakers, there's such a bad stereotype for us. Second of all, it hasn't been since this season that I've seen all these wannabe Celtics fans pop up. Just because the Celtics are doing well now it seems everybody wants to wear green all the time or decide to buy a Paul Pierce jersey. I bet if that trade was never made for Garnett or Allen and they didn't do well you wouldn't see any fake wannabe Boston fans popping up everywhere they would still be hiding at home saying that they dont have a favorite team and that they just like watching the NBA. A real fan stays with it's team through thick and thin and you'll always rock the jersey whether or not they are doing well.
