Ball Don't Lie - NBA

"In the next 15 or 20 years, I hope I'll be the richest man in the world. That's one of my goals. I want to be a billionaire. I want to get to a position where generation on generation don't have to worry about nothing. I don't want family members from my kids to my son's kids to never have to worry. And I can't do that now just playing basketball."LeBron James(notes), Seattle Post-Intelligencer, Dec. 10, 2005

Cheers, SLAM.

If I started a software company and the goal was to be the best most successful and profitable company in the world, would people think I was wrong...no. As I started to accumulate success would people, hate my company. I probably would be praised by wall street analyst. Cheered by investors. And my company's profile would be in every business book and subject of discussion in udergrad and grad schools across the nation. Lebron wants to do just that. He wants to build a BRAND that is the best in the world. Basketball is just his vehicle. No different than a inventor of a new widget or a scientist inventing a new drug. Necessity breeds innovation. He was hungry and poor. He wants to make sure that his children and their children and their children don't have to suffer that. That's the American Dream. That's what people have tried to do for hundreds of years. But because he is black or uneducated or young or has tattoos or whatever the reason, people have animosity and hatred for him because of wanting to maximize every opportunity that avails itself to him. Why, in a capitalistic society, that isn't celebrated I have no idea.....

I love the young man. Let's see. when i grow up; i want to get the hell out of Akron and move to the big city. That doesn't mean Cleveland or Detroit. It means New York, Chicago or Los Angeles. I want to be a millionaire. He's taking it to a higher level. With Shaq and the ring, he should be ready for the next move to the big city. His brand will be able to expand greater in the big city. It will be the only way to achieve his goal of being a billionaire and the richest man on the planet. Go on LeBron. I wonder if they told him what LeBron means in French. Le Roy means the King in french.

@ sam spade... He DOESN'T NEED NY to be the most marketed/marketable athlete/brand today...he already is..or at least well on his way...and he's done it all while living in stinky little Akron, Ohio (actually he lives in Bath Township, Ohio)...and playing in Cleveland...Now what part of this picture says he needs to go ANYWHERE to accomplish his financial goals??

I'm from Akron. I just recounted to you the dreams of every little boy who grows up in Akron. It's the same dream he's had since he was a child. i now live in Chicago. i graduated from the University of Akron. I have seen the world and am a millionaire. He stated this if you have a problem with his dream; go to his website and complain. don't complain to me. i was just giving you a perspective from a former Akronite. did you grow up there? did you play for your high school basketball team in Akron? I did. He could come here to Chicago. People don't like LeBron for saying he'd like to go to the big city. He said it. He means it. Get over it.
Akron used to be stinky when it had rubber plants. Now it's a university town dominated by the University of Akron; where that infamous dunk happened. where i live downtown Chicago is so far away from West Akron. It's way beyond Bath Township too. He be leaving. Go to his website and try and convince him.

You laker fans are still bragging about winning. when you should be commenting to coach phil jackson about trying to control artest. and i am not a hater im just going by what you laker fans cry around alot about shaq, lbron, dw. the question you should be asking is artest going to get along with kobe. will he cost the lakers a repeat. or is he thier to mess it up for the lakers cause the lakers mess itup for him in houston? what is his role in the laker team is it defence. let me ask that, cause you lakers fans are clearly missing the point on how kobe got those rings. which was defence from shaq, gasol, bynum, ariza, walton,. will artest be your weakest link. or will he cost you the title. why did the front office wanna keep ariza. will thier be another pistons vs indiana brawl, do you think the rockets wanted that or do you think coach phil jackson was in agreement with the front office when they picked up ron atest.....? does artest have his trust as a teamate to help kobe and the lakers win another title? where is lakers front office at cause it isn't going to be artests fought for not winning its going to be the front office. not coach phil jacksons. but the front office......?
