Video: Manu Ginobili catches rogue bat during Halloween game

Saturday's Halloween game between the Sacramento Kings and San Antonio Spurs was delayed when a bat began flying around the court — that is, until Spurs guard Manu Ginobili(notes) whacked the bat out of midair with his hand like a freakin' cat! ("Manu who catch bat with hand accomplish anything." — Mr. Miyagi)

With the bat dazed and confused, Manu calmly picked up the flying mammal, walked it over to an usher and delivered his kill. After a quick squirt of hand sanitizer the game was back on. No bat, no problem.

The NBA: If it's not one thing, it's a flying hawk, you know?

And oh, just in case PETA is reading, my sources tell me the bat was released outside the arena.

UPDATE: The bat is dead. Long live the bat!

UPDATE2: He's back from the dead! Spurs claim the bat it still alive.

    I used to like Manu until he incorporated the "flop" so heavily into his game. I remember when he was either a rookie or a sophomore but he threw a mean reversal jam down on the Lakers. Thats what I remembered him for. Now I remember him for flopping and getting hurt. Still a good player though. Always a 6th Man of the Year candidate. Pretty cool story though. Wonder if PETA takes offense to this? Lol

    he shouldn't have grabed the bat with bare hands. bats often have rabies. one bite and its 7-8 shots.
    sweet knocking it out of the air though-hard to do.

    ...i just watched it. manu has done this before....not on a court maybe. if you watch the vid, he waited to swat at the bat until it was by him- his hand came in behind the bat. its a good way to avoid the bats 'radar' their ears usaly point forward.

    Great move was drinking my beer at game and spit it out on ladies hair , so cool ,not the spit on lady but the KILLER MOVE OF MANU LOL THAT MADE OUR NIGHT .

    San Antonio and Austin have one of the largest bat colonies in the US. That bat probably flew in, no one had to bring it in - I mean who is going to stop it??? Good hands Manu but Blair - wow...Man up B!

    I found a dead bat on Halloween at school once - creeped me out!
