Tyreke Evans(notes) has had this season's Rookie of the Year award wrapped up since, oh, December. Maybe January at the latest. Averaging the hallowed 20-5-5 has that effect. Nonetheless, the Kings have partnered with trick shot maestros Dude Perfect — remember them? — for Tyreke's Rookie of the Year campaign. Why does he need a campaign when he's the runaway favorite? Beats me. Just watch the video.
That's the best of the six videos the group put together, and somehow it relates to how great of a season Tyreke Evans is having. I think it's something along the lines of their ability to make amazing shots in the Kings' arena is as impressive as Evans' first year in the NBA, which largely took place in the Kings' arena. Does that sound right?
Even if it doesn't, the videos are a part of "Stand with 'Reke," a vaguely presidential push for Evans to be named king of all rookies. It's going to be a very successful campaign, so it doesn't have to make a whole lot of sense.
And hey, I'll always have a laugh at non-athletic guys getting blocked really hard. That's just effective marketing.
