Ball Don't Lie - NBA

On today's dramatic episode of The Steph and the Restless, Knicks DNP-CD'er Stephon Marbury throws verbal shots at his soon to be ex-teammates, particularly Q-Rich. From the New York Post:

"I sat there for three weeks and didn't say one word. I didn't hear one of my teammates say, 'Why isn't Stephon Marbury playing? This is a good system for him, even to play with the second unit to bring more firepower.'

"When things got bad and then worse, guys like Quentin Richardson say, 'I don't consider him a teammate. He let his teammates out to dry.' He didn't care I was his teammate when I was banished. They left me out for dead. It's like we're in a foxhole and I'm facing the other way. If I got shot in the head, at least you want to get shot by the enemy. I got shot in the head by my own guys in my foxhole. And they didn't even give me an honorable death."

Marbury, who makes a cool $21.9 million a year, hasn't gotten off the bench this season. But according to The Soap Dispenser, by the end of this week — spoiler alert! — Steph finds papers (signed by a tipsy Isiah Thomas) that prove he actually owns the Knicks! Gasp! Donnie Walsh, in response, vows to break him.

I love this soap.

You know what's effed up? He kind of has a point.
And hey, all my fellow Knicks fans out there: Remember when you said this team wouldn't be exciting after trading away its two best players? You guys underestimated Steph's lunacy. For shame.

Damn, this soap takes turns, I already thought Marb was the idiot and all wrong, but seems like in the end he's right and NBA commissioner and all. Damn. Marb, sorry. You may be a freak, but I should have thought back to the Rodman days when I always was on that freaks side. Knicks are going to go down. Except maybe on court.

he makes 21million a year, and he complains. classy.
he claims he was given 'an option' to play or not, so he chose not to. of course it's not his fault, he's star-effin-bury!
he never even considered that it was already a kind gesture from d'antoni to even give him a choice to play. it's an insult to the fans, and to the knicks organization. people are struggling to get by with the poor economy, and all he can do is sulk while he gets paid millions.
it's not about whether or not he's better than the bench players of the knicks. he's not a team player, and never will be.

Steph has no point here. Why would his teammates come to his rescue when he's been a selfish since he landed in NY let alone his whole career. This goes back to even last year when he decided not to even show up to a game. His career is nobodys fault but his own.

Sports stars shouldn't act like primadonnas. They are EMPLOYEE's. You're supposed to do what your boss tells you to. It's about being professional. they say sit, you sit. They say play, you play. I'm sorry if FEELINGS are hurt, but if I was paid that much money, yeh I better be doing what the hand that feeds me tells me too.
Does make for great entertainment though.

Stephon Marbury is worthless, overpaid and one man wrecking machine for the NYK organization during Isiah Thomas era. Correct me if I'm wrong, Marbury used to played in Phoenix before D'antoni made to head coaching job in Phoenix? and he was the one who traded Marbury to the NYK a few years ago? What can D'antoni expect from him?. Marbury already knew it when D'antoni came to NYK as a head coach, the relationship and treatment is not going to change. D'antoni said it all along, he doesn't expect anything from Marbury. Trading him? no takers. ..overpaid for a worthless point guard. he is no Chris Paul or darren williams.

i agree with 9...steph was told he wasnt part of the "plan"....he was perfectly healthy and riding the bench...then oops guys get hurt let Marbury play....business or not boss employee whatever!!!....its like a girl tells u she cant go out with you cuz she gots a date then her date cancels so she hollas at you....b1tch please!!.....lol
and the Knicks were ruined way before steph.....how about jerome james, over-paying oft-injured Houston...that teams a whole mess and they better hope LBJ&Bosh do some kind of KG Allen and both sign there....

Was he ordered to play or asked if he wanted to play? Big difference between the two. He says he was just asked. Team isn't being clear. Remember first time this happened D'Antoni admitted he only asked him if he wanted to play. I don't care how much you are being paid (guarenteed whether you play or not), why would you want to play for the Knicks after they left him on the bench with no notice in the first game and then publicly announced he's not in the team plans. Seems to me that it the team that has f'd up again and, unfortunately, I'm a knicks fan. Release him and be done with it. Dolan can afford it. But once again his fat greasy finger prints are all over this mess.

As a long time knicks fan. D'Antoni got to much sun to his head. I not a fan of Steph at all but he has a strong point. If they publicly say your not part of their system why even ask to be part. I hope he get what he wants and rip thems when he plays against them- sorry knicks. Quite a few of us hate the direction they have taken. And no we are not getting James people- thinks he wants to be part of this mess????? hellz no

The Knicks should check if Jordan is available or even ask Charles Barkley or Patrick Ewing to play off the Bench....They can be a better impact than "Starr berry"...
Can the Knicks stop paying him if he is not producing? There is too much money being thrown at players...its SICK...

The Knicks should take there loses. The Knicks Organization itself is the worst in the NBA. Stephon has nothing to do with bad management. They have been cursed since the dumb Patrick Ewing trade and just can't seem to recover. All the ses trades and what is the excuse these days. New system, D'Antoni left Phoenix in the cold with an all star cast and we pick up the left overs. I may not agree with Steph's actions however is Duhon going to help NY.

C'mon, fellow Knicks fans. Let's get our fingers on our home keys, our mouths out of the gutter and start firing off trenchant, readable analysis, or at least quality jokes. As my favorite gigantic posterior-ed NY point guard would say, we're betta than that.

This situation is a complete mess. The knicks are not going to allow Marbury to return so they can clear salary cap space. By openly courting James, Howard and Stoudamire, they should be fined and have trade restrictions against this team as well as additional sanctions to include signing restrictions just like they do NCAA programs that do the same.
On another note, if the Lakers get Stoudamire this season they will easily win 70 games.
