There Can Only Be One: Win

BDL was busy live bloggin' with another 25,000 strong when this new 'There Can Only Be One' commercial came on, and well, I don't think a single word was typed throughout its entirety. 25,000 jaws, dropped.

Goosebumps, NBA. Goose. Bumps.

    Whoa. Where incredibly amazing happens.
Replay the end over and over. Look at Garnett. That look is pure confidence. Without any arrogance.

Clearly, they had to make up for that Magic/Bird one (The one with the creepy old guys that didn't have the default song behind it?)
    They succeeded.

I think both the Lakers and Celtics are great and deserving of a championship. However, what this really boils down to is money. The sad truth is, within any basketball game, players are fouling players all the time. All the time. And if the refs were to call all the fouls, that would make for a very boring game. Worse than doing an instant replay on every down in football. So with that in mind, yes, the refs do have an impact on the outcome of the game. For example, game 1, Lakers have 7 more personal fouls than the Celtics. Celtics win the game. Game 2, Lakers again have 7 more personal fouls than the Celtics. Again the Celtics win the game. Game 3, Celtics have 5 more personal fouls than the Lakers. The Lakers win that game. Games 4 and 5 were called a little more even so the players were allowed to determine the outcome of those games.
The point I'm trying to make is, it really is all about the money. Ratings are up because it's two historic franchises facing off in the finals. How bad would it be for ratings if the league allowed the players to determine the outcome of the games from the beginning and one team ends up sweeping the other team. The league would stand to lose millions upon millions in revenue. This is just my observation and opinion on what is really happening.
The sad truth is, the only sport that's probably more rigged than pro basketball is, college football where championships really aren't determined on the field.
