Almost three years ago to the, um, year, Deadspin's Will Leitch
set out to salute the most outstanding blogs for each NBA team. He called it
"Blogdom's Best." So cute. But a lot has changed in the last few
years - Ballhype, Blog World, RSS feeds! - so we here at Ball Don't Lie have
decided to take a second look. This afternoon: the best Charlotte Bobcats blogs.
This was tougher than you'd imagine.
For a few years, the Charlotte Bobcats have boasted one of the stronger -- if not larger -- cadre of fan blogs out there. They may have a frustratingly injury-prone team with ugly uniforms to root for, but the coverage is absolutely spot on. So, with some regrets, here are the three ...
Or five. To begin, one of the most miserable parts about a divorce between Charlotte and the Hornets that never should have happened was the loss of Hornets beat writer Rick Bonnell as a daily read. With the Bobcats' emergence, his MSM blog is more than making up for the pain of 2002-04.
And while Bobcats Baseline has only been around since last March (or, er, September of 1989) it's already just as good as any of the best blogs already mentioned in the BDL TBA countdown. How do I say that and justify keeping it out of the top three? Stop yelling. Give it a look.
3. Bobcats Planet - Funny guy, insightful blog.
2. Rufus on Fire - I really, really like this blog, you just get a sense reading it that the mind behind it (David Arnott) gets it on a level on par with some of the best.
1. Queen City Hoops - The Charlotte blogfather, this site has been around for years, it's still offering fresh perspective, detailed and nuanced analysis (no black/white arguments here), and it's really worth your time. Brett does fantastic work.
If you would like to nominate a specific team blog for selection, let us know right here.
