Ball Don't Lie - NBA

C: San Antonio Express-News. George Karl rightfully wonders why the NBA waited until hours before tip-off against San Antonio to tell the Nuggets about Kenyon Martin's one-game suspension, when the Nuggets had been off for two days prior and could have practiced knowing that Martin would sit.
PF: The Ledger. A look back at Penny Hardaway's fitful career, including a reminder of how he raced back in time to play in the 1998 All-Star Game after being voted in, sending a more deserving Tim Hardaway to the sidelines.
SF: New York Daily News. Knicks owner and Cablevision boss Jim Dolan doesn't respect David Stern, which is part of the reason nobody respects Jim Dolan. He also may have had a hand in forcing the close of a Pegi Young show, which is all the more reason to loathe him.
SG: Boston Globe. Sleep on the Pistons at your own peril.
PG: San Antonio Express-News. Mike Monroe wonders if the NBA will be seeing any more coaches making eight-figures a year.
6th: Orlando Sentinel. Darko's current mood? Mopey.
7th: Slate. Donald Fagen on Ike Turner and Papa Legba.
8th: NBA.com. An interview with a madman. For further reading, check out this quote: "Finally, my ranking of the all-time greatest players based on this methodology cannot be disputed. Therefore, I would say all in all this has to be one of the best analytical tools ever created to evaluate basketball performance. Don't you agree?" Ho-boy.
9th: New York Daily News. National columnists, please stop using field goal percentage defense as the end-all indicator of how good a team is defensively. One more time, and say it with me: points per game, adjusted for pace. That's the one now, innit?
10th: SI.com. A pretty thorough look from Ian Thomsen at the mind behind Ron Artest, without delving too far into the "he's from Queensbridge" stuff. A good read.
