A look around the league and the web that covers it. It's also important to note that the rotation order and starting nods aren't always listed in order of importance. That's for you, dear reader, to figure out.
C: Seattle Times. Clay Bennett is willing to leave behind the Sonics name if the franchise moves. He has no soul!
PF: Dallas Morning News. Why losing Dirk Nowitzki may actually be a good thing for the Mavericks.
SF: Detroit Bad Boys. If the Pistons played in the West, would they still be an elite contender?
SG: Ballhype. Is the NBA becoming a niche sport? Tom Ziller and Dan Shanoff battle it out.
PG: The Wizznuttz. Where vintage Washington Bullets commericials happen. Twice.
6th: NBA Basketball and Other Unrelatedness. The inaugural Kobe Left Cheek Bleeding Cut Awards.
7th: le basketbawl. NBA "feel test" rankings. (Please wash your hands after clicking this link.)
8th: Straight Cash Homey. These random NBA jerseys keep getting better. Today, a Roy Tarpley Mavs.
9th: The On Deck Circle. An interview with Carl English, Euro baller and former D-Leaguer/Hawaii stand out.
10th: Cozoogle. "Bryan Colangelo and his staff announced today that the [Raptors] are on the verge of signing Ukrainian veterinarian, Leonid Stadnik, the world's tallest living man." (The Swedish Chef is excited!)

PF: The only good thing about losing Dirk is a higher draft pick. Dallas will probably sit home for the playoffs now.
SF: Detroit wouldn't be an elite West team...but then the whole conference is separated by like 4 games. They'd be Utah...Utah is still pretty g**damn good.
SG: Next to the NFL, EVERYTHING seems to be a niche sport. But there's never an equal "big 4" or "big 3" one sport always dominates. The NBA isn't so much a niche sport as it is a sport where the most exciting players are rarely good enough to elevate their teams, and therefore you get the Spurs and Pistons every other year, and only Spurs and Pistons fans can sit through those games. Sadly, besides no Lakers/Celtics for several years, another reason to blame is the rotting corpse of the Knickerbockers. If NY still had an elite team ESPN and all the East-Coast-biased media outlets would be clawing each other's eyes out trying to be the one heralding the new "Golden Era" and how the Knicks will "save the NBA." And they'd be partially right. (Still, east coast bias makes me naseous , if you go to MLB.com and click on "Red Sox" it should just take you to ESPN.com--practically the official website of the Sox.)
That's all I got.

The Mavericks will gut out W's against the Clippers (2), Golden State, Seattle (2), Utah, Portland and New Orleans to finish the regular season with a 52-30 mark, which should be good enough to make the WC playoffs this season ... by a hair.
Regardless, their team has lost its 'direction' ... with the changes to they've made this year to their coaching staff (not their player roster).
Considering how close they came last year to winning it all ... if they had been able to scrape by G-State ... they would havebeen the favourites to go the distance ... it's a real shame to see.
Book it.

Look again at the salaries and attendance of euro teams, or chinese teams, or how NBA India will start to grow in the coming years. The NFL is American. Its gaining some traction in the UK but for the most part it doesnt have a worldwide appeal. MLB was doing well until the strike in the mid 90s nearly killed them and they have a great presence in latin america and japan, but everywhere else still requires more work in order to grow the sport.
Of the "Big Three" the NBA has the best chance to become the worlds largest professional sports league, far surpassing any other sport with the exception of soccer.
