Ball Don't Lie - NBA

A look around the league and the web that covers it. It's also important to note that the rotation order and starting nods aren't always listed in order of importance. That's for you, dear reader, to figure out.

C: Ball in Europe. In his first game against his ol' club, Rubio dished out 10 dimes in 21 minutes of action.
PF: Denver Stiffs. Whether or not the Nuggets compete for an NBA championship depends on Carmelo.
SF: Celtics Town. Don't be surprised if Rasheed Wallace's(notes) field goal percentage is exceptionally low.
SG: Interbasket. Are Danny Ainge, Larry Bird and Pat Riley making their NBA teams xenophobic?
PG: ESPN. From uniforms to undergarments — it's all covered in Lukas' new Uni Watch NBA preview.
6th: NBA FanHouse. Most likely to drop 50 at Madison Square Garden: Anthony Morrow(notes), err, LeBron.
7th: Basketbawful. The state of the NBA Coach of the Year award is an absolute joke.
8th: Hoops Addict. 'Sheed: "I've sort of taken the kind of role that Robert Horry(notes) had in San Antonio ..."
9th: CelticsBlog. The Celtics and Cavaliers can help restore the NBA's rivalries.
10th: SCiC. Andre Miller(notes), Mike Redd and eight other players who could be moved by the trade deadline.

very nice, after watching ricky at eurobasket..i think picks 2 through 4 were the wrong picks, except maybe tyreke and balke griffin ..ricky has the best chance of being a great player and star in the league...if he was taken earlier, who knows? maybe he would have come over with the increase of money

"Make no mistake, the Blazers didn’t want Andre Miller in June and they don’t want him now."
Wow, wow, wow. The more people write about that situation, the more diluted and misinformed it becomes. Unbelievable. Already some hack blogger is predicting, in no uncertain terms, that not only will Miller be traded (possibly very soon), but that PORTLAND DIDN'T EVEN WANT HIM IN THE FIRST PLACE AND ONLY SIGNED HIM BECAUSE THEY HAD CAP SPACE!
WTF. Sir Charles in Charge, your blog is complete crap. Don't even recycle idiotic musings like that, Skeets.
    Unbelievable.
I'm not done steaming about this.
    Or b!tching about it.
Make no mistake, he tells us.

Ricky Rubio is overrated as hell
his anticipation, passing, and basketball IQ are great. But the guy has no athleticism, can't guard the majority of NBA point guards, and has no jumper whatsoever. He dominates Euro basketball but I just don't see his game translating to the NBA well

Yeah, I agree with #8. SCicC's blog was extremely hard to follow. He didn't even bother explaining why he thinks Allen Iverson will be bought out by the Grizzlies, which is a stupid idea in the first place. Why would the Grizzlies bother signing him to a contract only to buy it out later in the year?

Wow, it's like watching Pete Maravich! Now if he can add the scoring like Pete.
THAT WILL BE HARD TO MATCH! The Pistol could score at will.......his shooting was amazing.
Can't wait to watch the Ricky show in a couple of yrs.

anyone who says ricky cant play d is a retard, his passing lane anticipation is redonkulous
and he is just as athletic as many other pgs in the nba, aka the white ones who are 6'3''

Rubio is 19 years old. His birthday is 10/21/90. He may not even be done growing yet.
A 19 year old kid who "dominates Euro ball" (#10's comment) should translate pretty well to the NBA. You can work on a jumper. You can lift weights and improve strength. You can not teach a kid to have such a profound grasp of the game at such a young age.

Realizing that the media is now more dedicated to raising eyebrows and obtaining viewers, in a more and more competitive market, it is still irresponsible for Interbasket to refer to teams as "xenophobic" because their number of international players falls below the league average.
The definition of xenophobia is "A person unduly fearful or contemptuous of that which is foreign, especially of strangers or foreign peoples" (http://www.thefreedictionary.com/xenophobia). It's a term that should carry as much weight as "racist", but for some reason doesn't, and so it appears, was thrown around a little carelessly.
Sensationalism aside, it was still an interesting read.
Also, Rubio is quite an entertainer.

Do you see who Ricky Rubio is playing against? Put him up against any NBA team and he is toast. I live in MN and hope that he stays in Euro.

Barbara, I think you just caused everyone to ask the question: Do YOU see who Ricky Rubio is playing against? Stop disrespecting the international game. Just because these guys aren't in the NBA doesn't mean they don't have the talent. Euroleague competition is still better than D-League competition.

to all the haters of ricky rubio, if you'd seen his defensive display at eurobasket against nba competition including tony parker(who he did a GREAT job against) then i think you would have a better grasp of where this kid really is. when you see him on the court he is almost as tall as rudy fernadez who is 6'6 i think, he is probably 6'5 at least 6'4with incredibly long arms. he is seriously not that bad at all althetically as he has a pretty dam good 1st step and countless hesitation and other dribble moves to get into the lane. minny got a steal with him at number 5 (if he ever plays there)
