Ball Don't Lie - NBA

A look around the league and the web that covers it. It's also important to note that the rotation order and starting nods aren't always listed in order of importance. That's for you, dear reader, to figure out.

C: HoopsAnalyst, via BBR. Ed Weiland compares the bevy of point guards in this year's NBA Draft to the iconic group of quarterbacks taken in the 1983 NFL Draft.
PF: Waiting For Next Year. How would Charlie Villanueva(notes) impact the Cavaliers' long-term plans?
SF: SRI. Dwight Howard(notes) on trading for Vince, re-signing Hedo and improving his game over the summer.
SG: The Puns Are Starting To Bore Me. An open letter to free agent Brandon Bass(notes).
PG: Deep Purple. Man, that Amar'e Stoudemire(notes) character really wants to play for the Lakers!
6th: ETB. "It's the summer's biggest garage sale, and everything must go." How much for this LO, sir?
7th: Indy Cornrows. "... Larry Bird has enough factors involved in trying to build a roster for the future without also trying to execute some sinister conspiracy to make the team white."
8th: Miami New Times. Did Shaq sell his Florida mansion to Naomi Campbell's billionaire boyfriend?
9th: DMN. Report: Devean George(notes) has exercised his player option to remain with the Mavericks.
10th: Supersonicsoul. "One year [after losing the Sonics], and most of the anger has ebbed. And while I’ve grown to understand why the majority of population takes a not-my-problem attitude towards what happens in other cities, let me offer a few words of advice: You’re next."

An anonymous source overheard Ty Lawson saying this after he was drafted last week, "I know you want to talk about Dan Marino. You can't blame his travels for me slipping way down in the draft. It's really unfair. He's my quarterback, man. He's my quarterback!" Discuss!

Marino was the man. Best pure passer ever.
I like the Jennings/Eason comparison, but I'm not sold on Rubio being a basketball Elway.

IndyCornrows - excellent article. We have to remember that Bird was not athletic but had skills and determination and that I believe, effected his perception in getting players that he believes has potential and not just go with the most hyped player in the draft. Only idiots would say it is racist.

I don't know who's more delusional, the Mavericks for giving George an option on his contract last year, or George himself for thinking somehow he still contributes.

If it's any consolation, I certainly don't hope Ty Lawson dies of gonorrhea and rots in hell.

Also, Devean George doesn't tip take-out restaurant employees.

poor sportswriters complaining about Amare duping them with trade comments....a little taste of what many athletes go thru with so many romors milling about their possible future. I think it is hilarious that Amare keeps them running around. Newsflash....Shaq isn't all that funny either and his selfish attitudes grew boring as well.

Lawson played great D in finals, but that big toe problem has some concerns. How long can he play in the NBA?
