Ball Don't Lie - NBA

A look around the league and the web that covers it. It's also important to note that the rotation order and starting nods aren't always listed in order of importance. That's for you, dear reader, to figure out.

C: From Deep. Michael Grange: "The latest word is that the three-year, $21-million deal that has been speculated as the Raptors' offer for Shawn Marion(notes) might be a bit light ... Think four years and north of $32-million." (Update: According to reports, Portland and Hedo have reached an agreement in principle.)
PF: Sactown Royalty. Leon Powe(notes) vs. Ike Diogu(notes) vs. Tom Ziller.
SF: Marginal Revolution, via ShareBro Graydon. A simple economic model of today's NBA.
SG: FirstCuts. This summer, Jordan Brand is taking inspiration from each of MJ's 60+ point games. I like.
PG: Bullets Forever. Six reasons why Nick Young's(notes) probably a goner in Washington.
6th: With Leather. This young gentleman really, really, really likes LeBron James(notes).
7th: Truth About It. "Dinner Bell" Mel Turpin, a member of the cursed Bullets/Wiz draft history ... sorta.
8th: CA. Allen Iverson(notes) has through representatives told the Grizzlies he would like to play in Memphis.
9th: TrueHoop. Kevin Arnovitz on what Ben Gordon's(notes) departure means for Derrick Rose(notes).
10th: SLAM Online. "They say reliving an event can be better than experiencing the event itself." Enjoy this sick video, Lakers fans.

Marion is pathetic since leaving the Suns. They were the best team he ever had. Go to New York Knicks with D'Antoni.

The guy with the tattoo of Lebron is a loser. I understand supporting and liking a player but getting a tattoo? No, no, that is getting your girlfriend's name - she/he could always leave for someone else / some other team. And Shaq adds a lot but NBA finals are still no sure thing for anyone.

I'm not to sure how I feel about Hedo coming to Portland. He brings playoff experience and shooting, but hes older and sucks on D. Guess we'll see how this plays out.

I'm sure Hedo will make Nate McMillan a happy guy with his hard-nosed defense. Ha!
I'd love to see AI in Memphis. With Zach Randolph. A car crash can be very interesting.

Lee T - Ariza got paid more than Ron, fool. Ron came much cheaper than Ariza would have. And the Lakers DO have the best chance of winning it all so why NOT go to a team like that? He is thinking smart.

I don't think the Blazers will regret Hedo's contract in 4-5 years. Think about it... if he's tailed off to near uselessness (likely), they'll be able to use his expiring contract to add a useful player, one that matches up with the rest of their (now in their prime) core. $10 million a year is not an albatross. It's a fairly resonably sized expiring deal that could net the Blazers a quality player.
If he's still got some gas in the tank 4-5 years from now, even better.

Marion is more valuable then Artest. He's more athletic, can score, and plays decent defense. Artest is better on the d side however and its still a great piickup for the lakers. I think there maybe a marion and nash reuniting.

Are there any rumors as to where Marion wants to go? I think he would be great as a sixth man for Boston (better fit than Sheed) because of his flexibility to play the 3 or 4. Good defender, rebounder, and can score(especially running up tempo w/Rondo. Sad to say I doubt the Cs are going to get a big name because they would have to swallow their pride and come off the bench. McD seems like the one most likely to except the roll, anyone will be an improvement over Scal, if Powe comes back there will be a log jam at the 4. Again why I like Marion's versatility, he can spell Ray, PP, and KG if u play PP minutes at the 2.

Are there any rumors as to where Marion wants to go? If he is willing to come off the bench, he would be perfect for Boston. With his flexibility he can spell Ray, PP, and KG if you play PP some minutes at the 2. I am not optomistic this will happen. I love Rasheed, but dont think Boston will be able to give him the minutes w/out upsetting Perkins, Davis, and Powe(if healthy and signed). McD would probably accept a more limited roll and if Powe isn't healthy (likely), would be a more realistic option. Any of these deals would keep the Cs among the elite if they stay healthy.

Bring Marion to the Warriors. He will be great in their run and gun system. The Warrior's style fits his game and his attitude.
Make it happen Riley and Nellie.
