Ball Don't Lie - NBA

A look around the league and the web that covers it. It's also important to note that the rotation order and starting nods aren't always listed in order of importance. That's for you, dear reader, to figure out.

C: Blog-a-Bull. Plenty of mixed reaction over the Chicago Sun-Times' Collins-to-coach-the-Bulls rumor.
PF: SLAM Online. The fashion (non)sense of Walter Herrmann.
SF: West Coast Bias. You'll never guess who Tim Donaghy's new witness-protection identity is.
SG: You Been Blinded. China has suspended NBA games while the country mourns. Or it's a conspiracy.
PG: NBA Stuffer. Referee Eddie Rush loves a good home team.
6th: Docksquad Sports. Remembering the late, great Drazen Petrovic.
7th: Newsday. Patrick Ewing would love to see son come play for the Knicks.
8th: Hornets 24/7. What do the Hornets need to do this off-season to improve?
9th: The Angry T. More YouTube videos than you can shake a stick at — the top 35 blocks of all-time.
10th: This isn't a link, but apparently Gary Payton's appearance on last night's Best Damn Sports Show Period was pretty funny. BDL reader Scott reports that Payton, strapped to a lie detector test, answered "yes" when asked if he would he get a sex change and play in the WNBA for $100 million. The test said his answer was true.

7th: Is Ewing Sr. worrying too much about his own legacy here or does he really think that this is best move for his son's career? Why would he want to ensure that Daniel never escapes his shadow?

I don't understand the fascination with Collins. At best, he is an above average coach. His best teams were marginal playoff teams. The Bulls were a marginal playoff team last season. Why more of the same? They should've forked over the cash to D'Antoni or Larry Brown.

Doug Collins is pwned by Michael Jordan. Mike got him to be coach of the Wiz when he came back. Check out "When Nothing Else Matters" by Michael Leahy.

they can get Doug Collins or Bootsy Collins (Bootzilla, Baby!!!!!!), it not gonna help this raw, non post size/rebounding team get any further over the hump. With Noah showing his immaturity and the front office's reluctance from pulling the trigger and make major moves for improvement, this team will be Doug's bane and will lead to a return in front of a microphone. If anybody wears a headset and plays ANALyst for the networks, they get taked about a head coaching job. Like mark jackson!?! When did HE become the next great basketball mind with NO experience to even get mentioned for a coaching job.. The only no coahing experience person right now is sitting on the Celtics bench-SAM "GOLUM" CASSELL!!!

Can't we all just get along here and simply watch the Bulls continue to make a long history of terrible decisions? Reinsdorf is whacked in the head and will never make the right business decisions to get this team back to being one of the elite in the league! == Tim K. of West Chicago!!!

Collins is the best analyst in the the NBA telecast booths. He was an excellent big guard and he knows how to coach. He also knows how to teach and knows the game on or off the floor as well as anyone. His problem is his lack of cool when the heat turns up. He's a bit over the top emotionally. However, he won't let the kids get the better of him. He'll command respect which Boylan never got. I think he's a great choice. I like the fact he gets emotional because his intelligence always comes back to rule.

Hubbie Brown is the best analyst in the NBA telecast booths. Collins has a whiney(ish) tone when he talks, and it's annoying. He should give up on the NBA and get a job mowing lawns.

Doug Collins is a horrible coach! He's even a worse ANALyst. Im all for him taking the Bulls job because I could care less about the Bulls and I would love not having to listen to his annoying voice while watching a game. He knows nothing about basketball, he coached MJ and went nowhere with that. Mark Jackson and Van Gundy are the best analysts.

I have been a huge Bulls fan before and since the Michael Jordan era . I always felt that Doug Collins helped to elevate the team to its' pre-glory years, and I was shocked at the news of his release prior to Phil Jackson replacing him as head coach. Remember that Jackson was Dougs' assistant and I feel that Doug laid the ground work for Phil to succeed. Sure , Collins seemed to wear his emotions on his sleeve but that was testimony to his passion for the game. Phil has always been blessed with a core of superstar players during his head coaching career while Doug has been starting more from scratch.I feel that the Bulls have a young core of potential allstar players and a potential superstar with the #1 pick in the draft.Collins is a good choice to mentor these players to the next level especially with Derrick Rose.
