TBJ Ep. 464: Poppy

Monday to Friday, The Basketball Jones look at the big games and story lines from the night before with a mix of in-depth analysis and irreverent humor. As always, questions and comments are appreciated.

On today's Remembrance Day show, Skeets and Tas breakdown the dramatic end to the Bulls/Nugs game. Did Miller get the shot off in time? Is Deng stepping up on D? Should Karl have kept going to Melo in the 4th? All that, plus early front runners for MIP, an all-star ballot suggestion and Tas' hot streak continues.

To you from failing hands we throw the torch — be yours to hold it high.

Bottom line, most improved player award goes to Marc Gasol.

Brad Miller's shot was good, Joakim Noah, Chris Kaman, and Eric Gordon should be on the ballot.

Does most improved player go to who ever imporved the most over last year or like improved the most over their best year so far in the NBA so far, for example Arenus barely played last year so you could say he is the most improved if you going by last year, but if you are going by their career best then this would probably be an average season for him. Also if your going off their best year then i wouldn't say Kaman is most improved since 2 years ago he avg 16 ppg 13 rpg and 2.8 bpg same with Channing Frye, he had a decent rookie year but since then hasn't done anything, but this year has bin good. Either way tho id say Trevor Ariza is most improved, 9 ppg last year and this year so far is 19 ppg.

All star ballots??? I thought I'd lost a month when you guys mentioned them, the season is young, need more games before we vote on who gets to dance during their all-star introduction.
I think someone is spying on my playlist, "Spoon" on the show?? Amazing.

Not sure about Most Improve Player, but the Most Improved Team so far has gotta be the Suns. No Marion and Shaq? No problem! Nash and Hill hopped in the wayback machine.

No way. You can't nominate a MIP who has already been a good player and had good seasons, such as Kaman has. MIP is a player who hasn't done much in the league prior to said breakout year. Two of the top MIP candidates at this point are Channing Frye and Will Bynum. Let's also talk about Comeback Player of the Year: Ben Wallace has my vote.
