TBJ Ep. 460: LP Potpourri

Monday to Friday, The Basketball Jones look at the big games and story lines from the night before with a mix of in-depth analysis and irreverent humor. As always, questions and comments are appreciated.

On today's show, Skeets and Tas bask in the glory of an action-packed Tuesday night schedule. Do the Cavaliers and Wizards have a rivalry? What was with KD's crunch time shot selection? Can Skeets keep his Nash-chub under wraps? All that, plus an examination of the Brandon Jennings(notes) trend.

Step right up for the Dirkus Circus, folks. It's the Greatest Show on Earth.

Why is he wearing a Christmas hat? It's not even Thanksgiving! People start Christmas way to early anymore.

Memo to you: it was actually Okur on the Dirkus Circus. Boozer already takes enough blame.

100% Agree about the Level 16 of Brick Breaker.
Most ridiculous part of that game.

It's more of a rivalry for washington. But Washington plays very physical when they meet - so it makes for some interesting brawls and trash-talking. To me, Detroit has been more of a rival for the cavs over the years. Not that I don't enjoy watching the Cavs beat them. I hope washingtons is in the playoffs. Good games.

Wizards were rivals for a few years, but they have to earn that status again after all the injuries and losing.
Cleveland vs. Boston and Pistons are better rivalries.

anyone who has watched the jazz for a while knows that sloan goes into a game with one gameplan. if it fails, he goes down with the boat (with the team still on it). he and his staff makes pretty good game-to-game adjustments, but nearly zero in-game adjustments.
sloan thinks he will get AIDS if there is a double team.
LeBron's first 50+ pt game came in Utah. Sloan was just rotating guys on him in single coverage. No doubles, no traps, no off-ball denials . . . just one on one vs. LeBron. I'm surprised that the likes of Matt Harpring, Devin Brown and an injured Kirilenko could not shut him down. Not as surprised as Sloan though, apparently.
Horrible game. Sloan also thinks Time Outs are like roll-over minutes. he will only use them when he thinks they are expiring. (ie. AFTER the team has taken the lead, instead of using them to stop a run when the Jazz are still ahead).
I could go on and on, but well, no one wants to read that.

Please stop the Kobe/Jordan comparisions. MJ was an icon and changed the game. When he played there wasn't a debate about who was the best like we do with the Kobe vs. Lebron talk. The media is mostly at fault always looking for the next Jordan. Look at MJ's numbers, highlights, accolades even his legendary comeback in 1995 was almost storybook. So please stop the nonsense.
