Ball Don't Lie - NBA

Monday to Friday, The Basketball Jones look at the big games and story lines from the night before with a mix of in-depth analysis and irreverent humor. As always, questions and comments are appreciated.

.

On today's show, Tas and I discuss a few of the Nuggets' lucky breaks, LA's complacency, the choice to let Derek Fisher(notes) hoist the last shot, Carmelo Anthony's(notes) place amongst today's greats and whether Jameer Nelson(notes) will get burn if the Magic make the Finals.

I notice the Nuggets are clinging as hard as possible to their underdog status. K-Mart especially after game 2....but back here in reality hasn't everyone been saying "look out for Denver they are playing great" and "boy, the Laker's look unaggressive and inconsistant"? I know I have been saying that and I heard it other places as well. Why can't teams play well unless they deem themselves underdogs? What's the matter K-Mart can't handle the oressure of being favored? That's why I like the cavs and LeBron, they have played pretty impressivley while being favorites in all their series.

You know what, most people don't know another rule: they may not jump for the ball before it reaches the peak. Not even the refs.

Listen UP bloggers and NBA fans worldwide...........The NBA is fixed.
This my 2nd time writing this blog. the first time I got kicked off the site.
That don't make sense to me, have you ever been kicked outta yahoo sports blog for telling the truth?
Throughout these entire playoffs refs have been blowing calls. I sat in the United Center for 2 of the games in that Bulls Celtics series. And it was clear that someone told the refs not ot make certain calls for certain teams.
Brad Miller gets bloodied and needs stitched and its not a flagrant. Some higher up has told the refs to calls these playoffs a certain way and that's what they're doing.
The refs blew so many critical calls yesterday that hurt the Lakers ( and this was BEFORE the clear jumpball violation) . I thought the home team was supposed to get all the calls. Everytime Billups drove the lane a foul was called. But when Kobe came fown the baseline then spun and got hacked across his arms, no call.
The reason is simple David Stern needs to cash in as much as he can during these hard times and what greater way than dramatic series after dramatic series. Any body with good eyesight and can afford to attend a game will agree with me. How can a ref miss such an easy call standing 5 ft away?
Easy cuz the NBA is evolving into the WWE and I really hate to say that, but its getting to the point where I know who'll win and how every game will play out in the last 2 minutes.
The only other game I can do this with is WWE.

And if my conspiracy theory is true then the NBA automatically goes right above the steroids era for trying to fool the public.

I'm all with you Carlo..... The NBA has to milk as much as money they can get. Every time there is an extra game you know how much merchandise sells. They want the Lakers and nuggets series to go to 7 games. LA is the biggest market. Same with Boston and Orlando series, why do you think they extended that to 7 games. You rely think Orland couldn't beat Boston in 5 games. This is getting out of hand and shame on the reffs and the commissioner for doing what they are doing. In the last 1 minutes of the game last night there was at least 5 calls that were not called for the Lakers, the jump ball violation, tripping Ariza, Gasol trying to get a time out.... And previous game when Bilups stepped out on the 3 when the ref was only 2 feet away, There are 3 reffs in the game how can all 3 miss it, apparently they are not watching the game. Pluse shaving of seconds when Fish fouled Bilups on the last play, NBA wanted to split the game in LA so they did, and they will split it in Denver. Same thing with Dallas.... They want the teams to win that has the biggest market.

And how much do you think the Cavs bring in every game they play in? Yet, they swept their past 2 matchups. HMM. WTF is wrong with u people. If you think it's rigged then just stop watching.

Exactly not much compared to Lakers and Boston. As I write Williams threw the ball at Howard and ironical none of the reffs noticed it, which was right in front of the ref.
Isn't a ref doing time for changing the outcome of the games? And this was recent. So why are you surprised that they will not do a such a thing.

    oh... another thing to say...
If the Cavs are getting so frustrated they're THROWING BALLS at players, um... they will NEVER HAVE A CHANCE against the intensity and the abilities of EITHER of the Western Conference Finals' contestants. The Nuggets will push you around and play such tight defensive on you that you... well, we all see how frustrated Kobe gets. And the lakers - the lakers can get inside a team's head. The Cavs have not even come close to coming up against the sheer intensity and explosiveness of the Lakers or the Nuggets.

its definetly not rigged whoever says it is has no mind whatsoever....if ur telling me tht i new who was going to win last night during the cavs magic game than u dont no wat ur talking about...wen hedo hit tht shot with a second left i called my friend and sed im so happy magic won i cant believe they pulled this off....then lebron did the impossible and tht amazing shot...i honestly dislike lebron because i like Dwade (and thot dwade shud hav been mvp before last night) but i gota hand it to lebron..tht was one of the best shots i hav ever seen in my life....and o ya ther have been plays called on the nuggets where they should should not hav been called so ya refs make mistakes..so wat everyone does ther human too...has ever occurred to you guys tht maybe these eastern/western finals may just be close (something tht hasnt happend in a while where both matchups are even). So lakers fans stop complaining just becus the better team will probably win this series (nuggets). Also 'Melo is destroying Kobe who is too busy crying, getting techs for slamming balls, and being a sore loser. He will deserve to lose because he thought his lakers would automatically return to the Finals but its not tht easy...Nuggets in 6...Magic in 7...Nuggets over Magic in 7....Playoffs aren't rigged..amazing happens here

Carlo,...you can make an argument that EVERY sport is fixed and a conspiracy theorist will have a field day.
    Boxing
    Horse racing
    MMA
.....are at the top of the list.
It's funny when somebody's team gets beat.
The excuses ring out,.."It was fixed!"
A big Brontosaurus took a dump in my yard the other day and ITS newer than the 'fixed' excuse.
