Ball Don't Lie - NBA

I co-host a daily NBA podcast at The Basketball Jones. This season, for reasons unknown, Tas, JD and I decided to try our luck with video. Woops! As always, questions, comments and feedback are appreciated.

On today's show, Tas and I argue over Kobe or Wade for All-NBA First Team, Westbrook or Joe Alexander for the Sprite Slam Dunk Contest and "Cars" or "Ratatouille" for ... well, for no reason at all really. All that and little more on that Bucks-Grizz trade rumor.

all this kobe/wade for one of the guard spots on all-nba team is premature, especially since it's going to end up being adam morrison or possibly jj reddick. (sic). don't you guys believe everything you hear during the NCAA tournaments? additionally, harold minor is baby jordan.

This video was not posted at 10 after. That is a lie! I'm home sick and i was waiting for it. But the vid is a little messed up, the faces keep smudging. This year, Kobe is definitely 1st team overall. Wade might be 1st team PG but CP3 will most likely take that spot. Almost hard to believe Wade wont be on the 1st team with the way hes been playing this year. He has to be the most "clutch" shot blocker in the league. I will guarantee more then 50% of his blocks come in the 4th quarter. And skeets.. put a little cocaine on the rim? WTF?

JJ Skeets knows what he's talking about. Don't know which Olympics you watched but Kobe was a lockdown defender on the start player of every opposing team. Aaaand, Kobe is also credited for the much improved defense of both Lebron and Dwayne this year. In a tight game situation Kobe will get it done and has proven that this year by giving the Lakers the best record in the NBA so far this season.

    1. nice kicks
    2. i agree.. kobe talked bout locking up in the olympics but he was constantly gettin toasted playing one on one. Too much reaching and not enough kicking and sliding.

your cocaine comment reminds me when Dave Chappel said" Sprinkle a lil crack on em!" lol but i think making 1st or 2nd team NBA is more individual than the MVP award. I would have to do some research but im sure there was somebody who had a subpar team that made 1st team NBA because of their statistics. I'm thinking maybe a T-mac back in his Orlando days but thats just off the head thinking
    great show...

This guy that called in the question about Conley... is he serious? Ramon Sessions was supposed to BREAK OUT this season, and he totally broke out(not talkin pimples here) when he was given the opportunity until Scott Skiles decided to be... Scott Skiles. I know it takes time for PG to develop in the league, but you have got to show some brilliance at some point to show what potential you have. Conley has shown NO potential, period. He can't drive past anyone, can't shoot the ball, and he's too small to guard anyone. What that says is that you probably have yourself a decent future backup pg. Suffice to say he's been a bust and it'll be a long time before he can prove otherwise. Sessions is a star waiting to happen. Mark my words. I think most teams right now would take Sessions over Conley, PERIOD. Adding an extra lottery pick is a total icing on the cake.

Tas and post #4 are both wrong about the olympics game. Wade had his moments, but it was Kobe who stuck it to the Spanish team in that 4th quarter with his scoring/playmaking ability. Kobe won that game for the US team. As far as Kobe being the lock down defender in the olympics game, you obviously didn't see Kobe getting crossed by some mexican AND 1, and rudy fernandez/JC Navarro each droppin 20+ points on both Kobe/Wade. When it came to it, they both had a difficult time guarding anyone. Kobe is not the lock down defender that he once was for whatever reason, and Wade can't guard anyone with a good first step move (Crawford would be a good example). First team guard has to be Kobe. You always pick the guy in the better team. That's why a guy like Durant won't even make the all star game even though he clearly has all star numbers, because his team blows.

^^ tupark82, Navarro was torching Chris Paul, not Kobe or Wade.
I say you put Wade and Kobe as GAURDS on the All NBA 1st Team. The All-NBA team doesn't have to be PG/SG, it's like the All Star game, you just pick gaurds, forwards, and a center.
Give Paul the boot, and put in Kobe and Wade.

Wade having the better year this year... doesn't matter if Kobe is getting more help, this is an individual honour.

Anyone notice that during the Celtics losing streak, aside from the Cleveland game, Pierce was playing very well and averaging about 27 points per game? Kinda proves Paul is not a superstar, not even the best player on his own team.

I have tapes of the last Olympic AND IT SEEMS to me that Wade had a lot of steals especially on the Finals. AND Kobe cant guard Fernandez and the other Spanish 2-3s. AND IT WAS WADE who saved USA offensively/defensively that last game.
AS FOR THE CURRENT NBA SEASON.... I have to wait until the last game of the season to decide, but wouldn't it be better put KB on the small forward against LeBron...if only Los Angeles hasn't had those three 7-footers

Wow just because Rudy Fernandez doesn't do the most amazing dunks during games doesn't tell us anything about the dunks he'd do in the Dunk Contest. Also I really doubt Milwaukee would take Conley for Sessions straight up, that trade rumor is obviously junk. Half this podcast is a futile debate of Wade or Kobe. How on earth have there been 372 episodes of this?
