Ball Don't Lie - NBA

As most of you know, I co-host a daily NBA podcast at The Basketball Jones. This season, for reasons unknown, Tas, JD and I have decided to try our luck with video. As always, questions, comments and feedback are appreciated.

On today's show, Tas and I discuss if the Hawks are f'real, whether the Wizards should start up the tanks and if Darius Miles will be picked up. We also receive a video message regarding a "new" All-Star event and see Melas enter unchartered bet waters.

Hushd - Kobe sack daddy here. "Kobe couldn't get around Pierce?" You must be kidding me.
One-on-one is Kobe's specialty, among all his other talents.
Lebron might have a chance if he's allowed to back Kobe down every time.

1on1 is old. You know, like: KD wrote about it once. I can't recall, it was an all-star event. Long ago. KD, please help.

Depending on how much it would cost. Would it be a good idea for Portland to pick him up and bench him?

    1. i am dropping my quest to bother skeets about new shoes until he gets them. they've grown on me.
    2. for the pay-off, the winner can dress the loser for a week's worth of shows. put skeets in a suit, put tas in sneaks and a white tee. or... loser gets a mohawk... shaved by the winner! thats gold right there.
    3. anybody see the JT prank with the popcorn in the car? high-larious.

you can call me crazy but Im going with John Salmons. Dude is great at 1 on 1 offense and defense. He cant play with the four guys around him but he definitely can hang with the likes of Kobe and the rest.

pretty sure Kobe's fadeaway jumper is unblockable.
regardless of that, i have yet to see someone match his quickness elevating and getting a shot off.
whether he can get around Pierce or not, he can shoot it over him.
Pierce? not so much, he'll try to get his points from the foul line, while claiming himself NBA's best during intermissions.
J.E should go back to doing Abercrombie & Fitch wallpapers.

Book off challenge: Loser must eat, constantly, for the entire broadcast. Leave it to you two to choose the food (Any Canadian "delicacies" that might work?)
As far as that 1-on-1 Tournament goes, there's obviously a ton of ways for it to work, and I'm gonna try to be as realistic about this as possible. First off, you gotta think you're looking at C-level talent for something like this. It should include as many international players as you can-- which you know Stern would love.
And that way Yi plays on All-Star weekend against other C-level players, where he belongs.
I think it'd be great for the fans at the arena to start with 16 guys, not televised. Even with the way NBA basketball is played these days, it can be difficult to gauge 1-on-1 skills, so that'd be a great way to at least get rid of the dudes who clearly- if surprisingly- aren't gonna cut it in a nationally televised tournament. Just show highlights before the 2nd round starts. Then you're only looking at 3 rounds televised, 7 games total. 2nd round games could even go on at the same time on opposite ends of the court while we just cut back & forth, or PIP as we sometimes see, or even split-screen. Imagine the Charles & the rest of the TNT crew trying to keep up with that. Hilarious.
Games can go to 7, 9, or 11 by 1's & 2's, no free throws, and with a ref calling fouls (which are taken out up top). Stern may hate this street ball style, but this is for the fans. Is it asking too much of him? Probably. But this is how it should go.
Here's a list of 16 guys that might well participate, & that Stern might actually choose (Sorry J.R.):
Yi (there's your ratings), Nick Young (consolation for the dunk contest), Delonte West (feel good story? Or would Stern not even wanna touch that?), Battier (A vet known for his D-- Curveball!!), Rafer Alston (Absolutely would HAVE to have him), Kapono (Only cause he won 3 contest), Courtney Lee, Jeff Green, Adam Morrison (Hilarious choice, & might be unaware of us laughing about it), Batum (Holla à votre garçon), Sasha (Machine win trophy, scrap for parts), Belinelli, Azubuike (Sounds foreign), Travis Outlaw (just skinny enough to qualify), Stuckey (though he might be too good already), & Ben Gordon.
Maybe Thaddeus Young, Ramon Sessions instead of Stuckey, Foye unless that's too many PGs, & Ridnour because according to All-Star ballots he has way too many fans (Think Skiles is stuffing the box?).
Great show guys, &, as always, great T-shirts Skeets.

uh, Luke, in case you havent noticed Wallace can barely even score when he plays the cavs( 8.5 pts and guarded by Lebron)... so what makes you think he could even compete against Lebron?
