Ball Don't Lie - NBA

Avoiding the final score of a game you have recorded to watch later is an art form. You gotta keep your head down, your ears on a swivel, and steer clear from all papers, TV and humans. The last being difficult to manage if you work with customers. Hence, this sign (via FH) by a worried Boston-area barista: "Customers, please try not to talk about the Celtics game. I am recording it and watching it when I get home tonight. I would really prefer to not know the outcome ahead of time. Thanks." Ten bucks says this didn't work. You just know some ass-hat had to order a extragrandethecelticslostbecausedocisclueless ... with whip cream.

I was the barista that wrote that sign. It actually did work. It was the Sunday of game 7 against the Hawks. There is one couple that comes in a lot who are season ticket holders. They came in all dressed in gear from the game. They ordered, stood quietly and waited for their drinks, and left. I think the key element of the plan was that I had headphones to listen to on the T to and from work.
Also, me and a couple others have a blog:

    - I work at Starbucks while I am a grad student at BC. Not that I need to justify it in any way. I'm not as arrogant as you.
    - Definately not a bandwagon Celtics fan. My uncle owns a bar across the street from the garden and I have been going to watch them since I was 5 years old (including a lot of games last year).
    - Don't think people care at all, which is why I didn't sign the note. Just trying to not find out what happened in the game.
    - Mac User? I'm not, but I don't see how that matters. Are you one of those people that makes fun of people because of what kind of computer they have? That's awesome man.

Hey man, sweet sign. What you all don't understand is that this is no ordinary barista, he is a diehard celtics fan and a coffee master to boot! He even owns a small toy poodle, named the Truth, which he dyes green for big games, and ties up outside the store.

Additionally, if this barista indeed went to many games last year, you cannot at all refer to him as a bandwagon fan. You couldn't possibly say somebody that paid money to watch Scalabrine try to cover Dwight Howard is a fair weather fan. And seriously, who takes sides with Mike Bibby?
Remember, Delonte West doesn't care about synthetic basketballs, that guy will play with a sock.

This barista is the best damn barista in all of Starbuck's history! To know is to love him and he makes a mean latte! Take it from me, he's been a diehard Celtic's fan since he could talk. Just last Christmas he came home sporting a Celtics Santa hat appearing as if he ate, drank, and slept with that thing on, probably fearing bad kharma would plague his beloved team if he were to take it off. I love the sign (rock on) and the spirit this Barista brings to everything and everyone he touches in his life.
