Ball Don't Lie - NBA

Oh, boy. Talk about being really freakin' excited to plug Elton Brand into the Philadelphia 76ers lineup. I mean, Mr. Anonymous Sixers Guy here — um, I assume this was done by a male — couldn't even be bothered to arc the new lettering or completely cover Shawn Bradley's name. Nope. He's just too damn excited!

I wonder if Clipper fans are getting just as creative with their Harold Ellis jerseys?

How many more nfl (national felon league) players will be arrested & the nfl does nothing...............great role models........it's ok though.....just spend money so the owners can divvy it up.

    No, no Skeets.
That's actually the jersey they gave Brand at the introductory press conference. They spent 80 million on him...gotta cut costs somewhere.

What's really funny to me is the number of empty seats in the Harold Ellis picture.

I know this was a knock on Harold Ellis (a college buddy of mine from Morehouse) but unlike Bradley, he wasn't a #2 pick who flamed out miserably.

"Hello everybody, and welcome to the opening day of the 2008-09 season. We anticipate a good season for the 76ers, and tonight is a challenge off the bat where they hope to ruin the Celtics party, fresh off of winning the championship against the Lakers. The Sixers are a new-look team with high hopes, headed by newly acquired All-Star power forward Elton Brand... And now here is the tip-off. Garnett tips it to Rondo and here we go, Celtics will have the ball to start the 4th as well... Oh no! Brand goes down, grabbing his knee! Mike it looks pretty bad, looks like Elton Brand broke his knee! It is twisted the wrong way, this is ugly! Oh yes Mike, he definitely broke his knee! For you people watching this on television with children, we recommend not looking for the sake of the kids.... 1.7 seconds into the season and Elton Brand's career is likely over! A bad sudden turn of events for the City of Brotherly Love!"

Does Elton play for a gas station? So he won't run out of gas? Just kiddin' Mr. Brand! I have seen you play in L.A. and you deserve much respect. Good Luck with the 76ers. We will follow your illustrious career.

You can't get mad at a guy for bailing on The Clips, man. C'mon, that organization is a joke. Players leave as soon as they get the chance.

Second round out here we come!!! jes kidding you never know though this could be it for in the next couple of years. Been waiting since 2001 for the 76ers to turn around. We got our guy please feel free to hate on us. Especially the clips. hahahaha sorry excuse for a franchise. How could u let a 20 and 10 machine leave. idiots. championships are built around a great pf or center. u kno like duncan, garnett, yao and so on.

Brand words means nothing, at least Davis kept his word. Even after the fact that he knew Brand was leaving. Even though Davis is playing for his home town who wants to play for a team that has no where to go the west is strong and the playoff for the clippers r a long shoot u could of went to the other L.A team the Lakers.

#17, did you say yoa and championship in the same sentence, read the basketball books, yao has never and will never win anything. Why are you so surprised about brand, no duke player ever amounts to anything in the nba, One other thing there is no loyalty in pro sports anymore, and the players words dont count for much, ie CLEMENS, PETTIT, BONDS just to name a few

Philly paid him 82 mil. I heard LA offered 81 mil. Clearly he WANTED to play in philly over LA. I cant blame him not only does the East have a n easier path to make the playoffs and advance, he also will have a much easier time making the all star squad. Yeah Baron and Brand wouldve been nice for the Clips but, come on, still no chance coming out of West. Philly is now LEGIT. by the way his family lives in NY and a 2 hr drive/35 min flight is much better than a 6 hr flight/ 83 hr drive. dont hate on the man

Maybe Brand thought a core of him Dalembert and AI the 2nd would be a better trio than him Baron and Kaman and/or Maggette. I would tend to agree with him.

I think he maybe should have addressed the comments he made about taking an lower salary in LA . . . And at the least apologized for any misunderstanding. Its totally understandable and respectable he wants to be near his family and his roots . . .
