Ball Don't Lie - NBA

Michael Grange of the Globe and Mail
:

"Bryan Colangelo said one of his goals this off-season was to make his team tougher. He just did [...]

According to NBA sources the team is expected to announce this afternoon a deal sending sharp-shooter Jason Kapono(notes) to the Philadelphia 76ers for bruising forward Reggie Evans(notes)."

Doug Smith of the Toronto Star confirms the report and drops some numbers:

The deal also gives Toronto some financial flexibility.

Evans is owed $4.6 million next season and $5 million in 2010-11 on his contract.

Kapono's deal will pay him $6.2 million this coming season and $6.6 million the season after.

In other news, Ed Stefanski was found sitting shirtless on a downtown Philadelphia street corner, dazed and repeating the same phrase "All Hail Bryan Colangelo". Turns out BC still has some tricks up his sleeve, if he has managed to offload the worst mistake of his tenure as Raptors GM:

And for a serviceable asset that actually addresses a team need (toughness, rebounding)? Wow...

The pride of Artesia (California) will be donning a Sixers uni. Reggie Evans hasn't been news-worthy since the Chris Kaman crotch-grabbing incident.

sixer have krover and traded krover
he and kapono have same role.now they invest in a older and biger salary guy....
good trade for sixer and it will strengthen their bench ...
if a healthy sixer with E .brand..its a good deal for kopono and team chemistry....

Hmmm, or Philly could have just paid the same amount and kept Kyle Korver. That deal was the team essentially saying we don't want to pay $6 mil a year for a one-dimensional shooter, but everyone and their mom knows they need a shooter. Good move I suppose for both sides, as Evans is redundant with a healthy(?) Brand.

So far I have been on target the last 3 years with these Sixers. I stated last year Elton Brand was not going to be a good fit and Andre Igudala should've signed a contract. This year expect there second best player Andre Miller gone. Sixers need excellent talent if they hope to make the playoffs next year. With Igudala the main attraction Sixers have to be very wise who will fit, and not just fit in
