Ball Don't Lie - NBA

Over at the FanHouse, Brett Edwards is a little aghast at the idea of Melvin Ely, a midseason addition for the San Antonio Spurs last season who barely played, getting a championship ring for his "role" on the 2006-07 NBA champs.

Well, I have something that's going to make Brett's stomach truly turn. Sorry, buddy.

24 players who have accrued more championship rings than Elgin Baylor, Bob Lanier, Karl Malone, Patrick Ewing, John Stockton, Kevin Garnett, Charles Barkley, and Xavier McDaniel combined.

Yeah, Robert Horry definitely is the one that doesn't belong on that list. He's actually earned most of his.

I once played Jenga with Matt Steigenga
also, what are the odds that JR Rider actually still _has his championship ring?

Oh man, don't get me started! Those Kobe/Shaq Lakers championship teams alone had a ton of bad players on them, didn't they? Penberthy, Rider, Mark Madsen, John Celestand, Samaki Walker, Slava Medvedenko, etc.

So people who contribute to the team don't get a ring if the team wins it all - well, that is the silliest thing I have ever heard of. Everyone on the team earned it and deserves it. If the guys who do not have a ring had played on a winning team, guess what they would have a ring. No one can win a ring without the help of team mates. And who is Bret Edwards anyway - could his name be "green with envy "????????

You guys, he does this every time he makes one of these lists. Mostly obscure references which make you go "who?" and then a couple of "wait a minute, they were good!"

Horry on the list is Comment baiting period. Dwyer knows it. Big Shot Bob not only EARNED his rings he was a big reason for several of those teams even winning them.

what a stupid freakin' article....I could do the same thing for the number of players that have more super bowl rings than Dan Marino, Fran Tarkenton, Jim Kelly, Thurmon Thomas, etc.
Dumba$$ writer is simply rehashing an age old discussion to make up for his own lack of creativity and intellect.

Its a crime that Barkley and Stockton&Malone didn't break through -- all cursed by playing in the Jordan era...
The article does seem a little amateurish on the writing.

All teams need practice players, So when the starters win the championship the practice players get a ring also. In football its worse. Some players never play a down and get a ring. That's just how it goes. For you people who were not born yet, Horry is a lot of the reason Houston won those two championships. Even Kenny Smith played well in one of those championship games(So did Maxwell and Cassel). It was not only the Dream. One person can't win a championship. It's a team sport.

Rider had mad game but he could not leave that pot alone. He had better moves than Jordan. could shoot better than Jordan but he could not rid himself of that Mary Jane. What a waste. I did not think he was on that Lakers playoff roster. This guy was a terrific ball player when he got on the court, He stayed in trouble with the league.
