Ball Don't Lie - NBA

It was a rough call, but for the second time in six weeks, Al Harrington nearly won a game against the Clippers before immediately giving it back by hanging on the rim too long. I'll have to check the books, but I'm pretty sure this makes ol' Al the exact opposite of an "Indian giver," which to Mike D'Antoni is likely just as offensive.

The Dubs basically traded him for nothing, and I have no complaints whatsoever.

thing is, on this one there was a guy under him as he dunked it, so it shouldn't have been an issue

It's tough to explain behavior sometimes, even for the person who does a given behavior. For example, I just ****** the living **** out of a small ******.

I agree with #5 - Correct me if I am wrong -and my wife says I am most of the time ;) - The rules state that hanging on the rim is illegal except when coming down from a dunk places players in danger (Rule 12 Section IV Paragraph B) - Not only the ref's didn't 'see' the clipper under him - they don't really 'read' the rule book either! Another fine example of how slimy and dirty the NBA and it's ref's are! and Skeets - Don't be like like MJD ("I didn't know you can't dunk in pregame warm ups in college?!?!?!?" - esp. when that rule has been in the books at least since Elvin Hayes played at UHouston! ) read a rule book- Talk about Donovan McNabb !!!!!!!

Must be those Protege shoes that give him that extra "hang"time. Kids, you can get them at your local WalMart for $9.99!

^Actually, they are available at K-Mart. Wal-Mart just notified me they intend to sue if I don't correct that as they carry Starburys exclusively.

Also what makes this really suspect is the fact that 2 of the Ref's that night (Marc Davis and Scott Foster) both have over 10 years experience refereeing the NBA, which is making me think that they sent the wrong Ref up the river!

some of you guys are out of your minds for defending al harrington. There was no reason for Al to do a friggin pull up as if there were piranhas underneath him! assessing a technical was the correct call. a player CAN hang on the rim to protect himself from landing on other players but not do a chin up like he did. Harrington is a joke. He'll never get it. He'll always be bounced around and chuck up bad shots after bad shots. it baffles me when i see the box score sometimes to see Harrington has 35points on like 32 FGA, out of those 32, 12 of them are 3PTA. He's awful!

NC23 - I am not a Knicks or a harrington fan! I just think the NBA (and the ref's) are becoming more corrupt each season! Where in the rule book does it say " ...except for a chin up..."?!?!?!?!?!? or "...if he is a lousy player..."?!?!?!?!? It's jerks like you that is helping the NBA turn into pro wrestling!

The hanging on the rim call is a wuss call to begin with, and Al Thornton was underneath. Bad call on a nice spin move dunk. Knicks would lose anyways. Hello Lottery. Funny Poster.

#14 is correct. You can hang on the rim after a dunk so you don't land on another player. Pulling yourself up is not allowed.

NBA? Rule book? Now there's 2 things you don't read in the same sentence too often anymore. Didn't there used to be some rule called traveling where if a guy with the ball took more than two steps without dribbling it he'd be called for travelling? Rule book? What about not being able to be in the lane for more than 3 seconds? Didn't that used to be called a 3 second violation? Duh! And Illegal defense? What is that? This is why I long for the days of Jordan, Bird, Magic, Barkley, Isiah, even the back end of Dr J's career. Back when 45% field goal percentage was bad and not a future hall of famer. Back when basketball was basketball. Todays players couldn't carry those guy's jocks if they had to.

I think the funniest thing about this was D'Antoni's reactions to both incidents. Priceless!!!!!!
