Any major interior design dude will tell you that the best way to liven up a drab room is to add a few splashes of color. Furthermore, as Robert De Niro in "Meet The Parents" will tell you, when it comes to choosing colors, geniuses pick green. So why not put the combined wisdom of design gurus and Jack Byrnes together and add a little green to your home with Catalina Viejo's Boston Celtics portraits? Hey, a genius would.
Viejo, an artist from Spain living in Massachusetts, has created a set of incredible miniature Celtics paintings ranging from Kevin Garnett to Doc Rivers to gigantic headband era Brian Scalabrine. I'm no fan of the Celtics and even I kind of want the Rasheed Wallace(notes) mushroom top one.
Measuring just 2-1/2 by 1-1/2 inches, these little guys would look great anywhere in your house, as long as you're not a Lakers fan. Unfortunately, you can't buy these quite yet as they are a part of Viejo's exhibit at Boston's Lot F Gallery until May 21. And that's too bad. Every mom would love a Mohawked Glen Davis for Mother's Day.
Anyways, after the exhibit ends, they're all yours. The miniatures will run you $40 apiece, and that includes a frame. Yeah, it's a little steep for an itsy-bitsy painting, but it's one-of-a-kind. Plus, where else are you going to get a painting of Brian Scalabrine(notes)? I mean, besides my basement studio.
So come May 22, if you're dying to get some tiny Boston Celtics in to your house — no, not Nate Robinson(notes) — head on over to Viejo's Etsy shop and stock up. Sure, by that time the Celtics might be at home, nursing their various injuries, but I can't think of a better way to commemorate the season.
