Ball Don't Lie - NBA

Well, well, well ... tonight's Mavericks-Nuggets contest suddenly has a little more drama to it, and no, I'm not talking about the 600 or so "Leverage" and "Closer" commercials we're about to endure. (We get it TNT, you know drama. Move on.)

No, instead, Nuggets forward Kenyon Martin(notes) would like a word or two or forearm shiver with Mavericks billionaire owner Mark Cuban. Martin isn't happy about the remarks Cuban made to his mom in the controversial aftermath of Game 3 on Saturday.

Cuban admits when a fan called the Nuggets "thugs" he turned to Martin's mom, Lydia Moore and said, "That includes your son." Burn! Martin's agent also claims Cuban told Ms. Moore, just a day before Mother's Day, "Your son is a punk!" (Forgetting to sign your mom's card doesn't seem so bad now, does it?)MORE

Now, Cuban denies making the "punk" comment, but that didn't stop K-Mart from sounding off on the war of words this morning. He didn't hold any verbal punches, according to Chris Dempsey of The Denver Post:

"I don't feel I need to call his name in the media and all that, but it's a little personal," Martin said after the Nuggets shootaround today. "And I'm going to take care of it." [...]

"[You] don't say nothing to my kids or my family," Martin said. "If you got something to say, say it to me. But I'm going to take care of it. I'm not going to do the whole media thing, back and forth. That's his thing. I'm more of a face-to-face type of dude."

Set your TiVos, folks — 9:30 p.m. EDT.

***

Update: This game has already seen its fair share of technicals and flagrant fouls, but thankfully/unfortunately none have involved K-Mart or Cuban. According to Calvin Watkins of The FanHouse, Cubes wouldn't talk much about the incident while working out before the game, and Martin wasn't around to speak to reporters. We'll keep you posted if any "Yo Mama" jokes start flying.

***

Update No. 2: I either fell asleep for two minutes or TNT didn't air this, but Art Garcia of the NBA.com Playoff Blog reports Martin came to the defense of his mother, Lydia, who is sitting about six rows up near the Denver end, while officials were reviewing a play in the second quarter. Apparently, K-Mart unleashed hell at the Dallas fans sitting around her:

"You [expletive] better cut the [expletive]," he shouted, as team personnel tried to pull him back to the huddle. "You’re going to get [expletive] up."

Martin then said to his mother: "Somebody do something to you, you better tell me. I’m going to [expletive] somebody up."

Security came to the area to speak with Martin's mom, but she remained in her seat. Yikes.

***

Update No. 3: Following Monday's wild game, Cuban apologized for exchanging words with Ms. Moore on his blog:

"... I would like to apologize to you and your mom KMart for my comment. I should have not said anything and I was wrong. Hopefully you will accept the apology and we can move on."

"When the series comes back to Dallas, your family, and the family of other Nuggets players are welcome to stay in my suite, with my family. Its amazing how tempers mellow when real people talk to each other and realize that its still just a game."

When the series comes back to Dallas. Ha! Well played, Mark.

K-Mart will put Cuban in his place. And by "his place" he means, "fishing with the rest of the Mavericks."
In other news, summer basketball camp starts tomorrow in Dallas.

Cuban could hold his own for a while.
Hopefully this helps the team I'm supporting the Lakers I think they could really benefit from a suspension of Kenyon Martin.

Love the trash talk by Cuban!
Remember after his Mavs lost to Warriers he said about Don Nelson " I have had my ex girlfriends run away with some of my friends .."

I was a big Cuban fan, not after that . That's more than just talking trash. If you want to talk trash or disrespect someone do it to K-mart and not his Mom. The league should fine him, no matter how much he paid to sit with the fans he is more than a fan he is a owner . And should have more sense than to talk crazy to anyone Mother,
    fan or player.

Andrea - you are dreaming. Are you referring to the team that got beat by a Rockets' team without its two best players? That they didn't get beat but ROUTED even though they have the "best player in the game" Kobe? I hope not, because the Nuggets are better than last year and also they are better defensively than the Lakers. They are more tougher and not stupid enough to knock down somebody RIGHT IN THE REFEREE's face (Fisher). The Nuggets have all the tools to beat the Lakers.

Cuban is just speaking his mind, And obviously his mind is filled with stress, rage, racism and, hatred.
Hatred for the better team it just proves Cuban is a low life himself, complaining and whining to the mother of a player on the opposing team not only crosses the line but is very very VERY poor sportsmanship. For the owner of a professional team to display such a despicable act not only tarnishes his teams professionalism but the NBA as a whole .

I think Kmart is a thug, undoubtedly...but Cuban is nothing more than a whining rich boy with a complex trying to make up for him being a complete loser and tool his whole life. He needs the attention bc he never got it growing up from when he was born through high school, college and until he was a billionaire...he was always the biggest loser in every aspect of the word...now just because he has money he thinks he can do what he wants...hey mark, remember what it feels like to be made fun of? im sure you cried yourself to sleep plenty of times so lay off kmarts mom...hopefully you go bankrupt so you can go back to being the biggest loser on the face of the earth...absolutely no one likes you and people just pretend to be your friend because you have money or because you own the mavs...shut your mouth and learn to watch a game in silence...i hope the NBA bans him from the arena permanently
